A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 11
Year 11 have been working really well in preparation for their core mocks and forthcoming GCSE exams. We are really impressed with their work ethic and would like to congratulate them and encourage them to maintain this positive approach. This week in tutor time Year 11 have been looking at the topic of Empathy and finding out why Empathy is an essential skill. It allows us to make sense of ourselves as well as those around us - whether we agree with them or not. Empathy is ultimately vital for success as it underpins the skills of great leadership, creativity and communication. Well done to the top 3 students on the epraise leaderboard, 1st Evie in 11SAS with 76 points, 2nd Kate in 11PON with 71 points and 3rd Scarlett in 11PON with 58 points. A further well done to the top 3 forms; 11SAS with 733 points, 11PON with 719 points and 11ERU with 631 points. On Monday we will be commemorating SAFE Day (Substance Advice for Everyone Day). SAFE Day is a borough-wide day of action for all students in Kingston & Richmond. Students will be doing activities in form time which focus on supporting young people to make safer choices about drugs. A reminder that leavers items including Prom, Hoodie and Yearbook payments are live on Parent pay. If parents have any questions please contact myself via KS4@waldegravesch.org. If students are interested there is a Prom Wear Event on Saturday 9 March at The Fiery Bird in Woking. On sale will be a wide range of prom dresses, suits, shoes and accessories, this is the chance to ‘glam up’ for your prom without all the cost – and knowing that every purchase will support the Woking and Sam Beare Hospice. BOOK OF THE MONTH
“ One Day ” by David Nicholls
“ One Day ” by David Nicholls is about Emma and Dexter who meet one night on the 15th of July 1988 but go their separate ways the next day. However, the novel follows both of them and their story together every 15th of July for the next 20 years. The Netflix adaptation of the book has recently been released and if you have enjoyed the show, I would really recommend the book because the book version gives you a unique insight into the story.
