him if he had ever heard the story of the Prodigal Son , as told by Jesus. He had no idea what I was talking about, so I told him the story that is found in Luke, chapter 15, of the Bible. It is about a young son who took his share of his father’s inheritance, went to a far away land, and spent his money on prostitutes and wild living. Before long he'd squandered and lost his entire inheritance. Then a famine came, and this young man hit rock bottom. When he came to his senses, he swallowed his pride and returned home to his father. As Jesus tells the story, while the son was still a long way away, the father (representing God) saw him, ran to him, hugged him, kissed him, put a ring on his finger, a robe on his back, sandals on his feet, killed the fatted calf and threw a party. I said, “Fred, if you really want to know how God feels toward you, that’s it! It’s never too late to come home, and it’s a whole lot better late than never!” I then asked him, “Fred, do
