Suppose one day a man [Jesus] walked this earth claiming to be God, saying that He was “THE way...THE truth...THE life” [John 14:6, emphasis mine]. What if Jesus claimed to be the eternal, the great “I AM , ” the major name used of God? [John 8:58. — The Hebrew name for God, Yahweh (or Jehovah ), comes from the emphatic form of “I AM.” See: Exodus 3:14 where God said His name shall be “I AM.” ] Any person claiming to be God, as Jesus did, would either be psychotic with delusions of grandeur, a deceiver out to pull off one of the greatest scams of all time, or just maybe, He actually was God-become-man! Possibly God had chosen to write Himself into His own story and become one of us. In the New Testament , hundreds of times, Jesus is called by virtually every major name and title of God, as well as every major attribute of God is ascribed to Him: He is called “ God ” [John 1:1,14; Hebrews 1:8], “ Yahweh ” [John 8:58; cf.
