A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

It was great to see all our Year 10s back in school for a full week of lessons and working hard. This week we had an assembly on success and how that looks different for everyone and how it is important for all the students to carve out their own path and find their own form of success. This week our team of intrepid Cricketers played in the Outer London Cricket Finals they took on a number of teams in friendlies and matches. Despite beating both teams in friendly matches and some really impressive Cricket the team ranked 3rd place overall. Well done to all those involved!

Leading the epraise this week we have Lacey M from PRE followed closely by Mimi H and Eda B both from SHO.

Well done to Neuza in 10SHO for earning a high Distinction in her Grade 5 Trinity Singing exam!

Congratulations to Nahla in 10FJA who recently participated in a Gymnastics competition. This was her first competition of the year and what an incredible one it was, as she landed in first place taking home a gold medal! There has been a change of date in your calendars for the Parents Consultation Evening for Year 10 students. The new date is Thursday 2 May and this will follow an up to date monitor report for parents, giving you a cur - rent level of progress of your child. On Monday next week we will be launching SAFE day (Substance Advice for Everyone) during our tutor time. We will be covering these topics; Appreciating the challenges of making decisions when friends are around. Knowing some ways to manage peer pressure including how to support their friends. Awareness of the harms of cannabis and rates of use. Awareness of sources of advice and support, including local services, and trusted adults at school and at home.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

“ One Day ” by David Nicholls

“ One Day ” by David Nicholls is about Emma and Dexter who meet one night on the 15th of July 1988 but go their separate ways the next day. However, the novel follows both of them and their story together every 15th of July for the next 20 years. The Netflix adaptation of the book has recently been released and if you have enjoyed the show, I would really recommend the book because the book version gives you a unique insight into the story.
