HAVASI at Alladale Wilderness Reserve 2-7 JULY 2024
A PIANO VIRTUOSO, LIKE NO OTHER, WITH A PASSION FOR NATURE, WELLBEING & THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS The most intimate experience for a small group of passionate music lovers, to share six days at Alladale Lodge set within the stunning 23,000-acre Reserve with HAVASI
HAVASI
A graduate of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, classically-trained piano virtuoso HAVASI has established himself as one of the most diverse and exciting young artists of today. He continues to thrill audiences and sell out arenas and stadiums across the globe, including London’s Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Sydney Opera House, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, and the Orchard Hall in Tokyo. https://havasi.eu/ A message from Paul Lister, curator of the Alladale Wilderness Reserve I had the great pleasure of meeting HAVASI after a concert in Miami 10 years ago. His skill and entertainment qualities as a composer and artist knows no bounds. On the many pleasurable occasions where I have seen him perform, including a European Nature Trust (TENT) event at Fawley Court, his creative skills have never ceased to amaze me. This coming July is your opportunity to spend six days at Alladale Lodge with HAVASI in the house, whilst 20% of your accommodation costs will support the work of TENT and tree planting in the greater Sutherland area.
ARRIVAL DAY
DAY 2
Welcome to Alladale Lodge with hospitality couple Stuart and Mandy. Lunch will be hosted by Paul and HAVASI. This afternoon, we will take a short walk over the hill to the historic Croick Church. From there you have the option to cycle, walk or drive back to the lodge passing the old Amat woods and then to watch salmon leaping waterfalls. Then we meet Hugh Fullerton-Smith who will introduce us to Alladale’s aquaponic gardens where our vegetables, salads and micro greens are grown in an award-winning zero-waste system. Over drinks and canapes, HAVASI will speak about his extraordinary journey from humble beginnings in Hungary, to his global fame as a piano virtuoso. He will also talk of the inspiration he derived from his previous visit to Alladale, which led to a composition he wrote for his son Eliot. The film was shot and edited by Norman Strachan. Click here to enjoy this beautiful composition. HAVASI will play this as part of his recital tonight before dinner.
Before breakfast there is the opportunity to go bird watching with Ryan Munro, Alladale’s Head Ranger, whilst exploring the lodge environs. After breakfast Innes MacNeill, Alladale’s Reserve manager, will take us on a 4x4 excursion westwards along Glen Mhor towards Deanich Lodge, one of Britain’s most remote dwellings. Here we will have time to enjoy a coffee break and stretch our legs. During the morning’s drive, Innes will explain about Alladale’s pioneering tree planting programs, and the plans for more landscape restoration work in 2025. Returning along the broken track, we will stop at a special location adjacent to the Carron River and enjoy a wild lunch. You will then have the option to drive, walk or bike the 3 miles back to the lodge. Some downtime is reserved before we enjoy a second evening with HAVASI playing before dinner.

DAY 3
DAY 4
After breakfast, Hugh Fullerton-Smith will guide a day trip which will include a visit to Dunrobin Castle and its magnificent waterside gardens. We then head to Loch Fleet Nature Reserve, home to one of the UK’s largest seal colonies. From here we drive to Coul Links for a stunning beach walk and a remote, delicious picnic lunch. We will then move on to visit the beautiful Cathedral town of Dornoch with its unique vibe. A short private tour of the famous Glenmorangie distillery will follow, before arriving at the ANTA Design Centre in time for a cup of tea.
There is the option for a relaxed birdwatching walk with Ryan before breakfast, or a workout in the gym. Then HAVASI will join us for a 4x4 drive along Glen Alladale, making our way down this most majestic glacial valley before crossing the Alladale river and walking into the magical Skiach Woods, one of the most northern remnants of the ancient wood of Caledon. Over the millennia, 95% of Scotland’s original forests have been felled, leaving only small pockets that we can observe today. Ryan will then show us the Scottish Wildcat breeding centre and explain more about the partnership program with RZSS, and the work being undertaken to save this highly threatened felid from extinction. After lunch we have the opportunity for some personal relaxation time, or partake in one of the many Reserve activities on offer. HAVASI will give another recital over drinks and canapes before we all enjoy dinner together.
Hugh will host this evening’s drinks and dinner.

DAY 5
DEPARTURE DAY
Our last full day at Alladale. Today is very much about your personal choice of what you would like to do. There is a plethora of activities you can participate in, including foraging, pickleball, guided fly fishing, claybird shooting, biking, wild swimming, or taking a last personal walk into the magic of the Reserve. Subject to weather conditions, lunch will be served outdoors in a wild and peaceful setting. We bid you a fond farewell and safe homeward journey with what we are certain will prove treasured memories. Bespoke transfer arrangements will be organised depending on flight departure times.
