Mast Young Plants 2024 Spring Catalog

Your source for the highest quality young plant liners. Featuring solutions for growers, Mast Young Plants exclusives, 130 new varieties from top breeders, and trialed-and-true favorites.

MAST YOUNG PLANTS

WELCOME Mast Young Plants is pleased to offer you this 2024-2025 Spring Liner Catalog. Our team takes great pride in selecting the highest quality products for you, from longstanding customer favorites to the best new introductions from the industry’s top breeders. Buy with confidence, knowing that the varieties in our program meet our high standards for excellence, confirmed through extensive greenhouse and summer performance trialing. You’re also supported throughout the process by our industry-leading customer service team. After introducing this in 2024, we’re adding the 3-06 perennial ground cover program to our catalog in 2025. We start and bulk up these perennials in the summer and then overwinter them at near-freezing temperatures. They wake up as the spring temperatures climb and we ship them to you with your last liner orders of the spring. Handle and variety tags included with each 6-pack, you receive them ready to set directly on your retail benches. See pages 132-133 for full program information. NEW TROPICAL HIBISCUS LINE After the genetics from our 2024 hibiscus line moved into the Proven Winner program, we searched for the highest quality hibiscus to replace it with. We’re pleased to introduce a very reputable line of tropical hibiscus from Aris, the Tradewinds® Series, for our 2025 program. Look for these on page 54 and also in our summer trial garden. 2025 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS RETAIL-READY PERENNIAL GROUND COVER PROGRAM FOLIAGE PROGRAM Delight and attract customers with increased interest in foliage plants and houseplants with our expanded foliage offerings. Select your favorites for standalone foliage programs and to create an exciting tropical look in annual combo containers. See pages 128-129 for our expanded foliage program offerings. SUCCULENT MIXED TRAYS We’re refreshing this popular program with some exciting updates in 2025. If you’re looking for an easy bench display solution, our 32 cell Chick Charmlettes line features easy and attractive retail ready trays. We’re also adding two new succulents with limited availability, into some of your favorite mixed trays for an exciting new look. Check out these improved mixes on pages 141-143. We’re rooting for your success and look forward to helping you grow your business in 2025! Your friends at Mast Young Plants

BOOK YOUR ORDER EARLY! Receiving your MYP catalog in July gives you time to plan your season and book your orders. This booking cycle begins at the end of July for orders shipping weeks 40-20. Give your growing season a successful start by booking your order early and taking advantage of these benefits: EARLY ORDER DISCOUNT (EOD) Early Order Discount (EOD): An early order discount (EOD) lowers the cost of your plants and applies to all orders booked by October 31, 2024. We recommend placing as much of your initial order as early as you can. You can always add a product later if you make additions or changes to your program but ordering early ensures that the bulk of your order is confirmed with the EOD pricing. SELECTION AND AVAILABILITY Good availability earlier in the season means it’s more likely you’ll get your entire order confirmed. Our trays are grown to order, and we book orders with the cutting suppliers after receiving orders from your broker. Suppliers have a limited number of cuttings, and once they are gone, we cannot get more. ORDER PROTECTION Order Protection: Booking early helps to protect your order from unexpected shortages arising during production.

DEER RESISTANT Research demonstrates these varieties to be less desirable to deer.

SEASON EXTENDERS We grow every plant in our trial gardens all summer long, so we’re confident these plants perform best in summer’s heat.

MYP BEST SELLER These varieties are top sellers and ones that you can feel confident will do well for you too!

NEW These plants performed so well in our trials that we’re offering them to you in our catalog this year!

MAST YOUNG PLANTS EXCLUSIVE Through our relationships with our top breeders, we secure the rights to sell new varieties to our customers, one year before it becomes available to all other rooting stations. Book with MYP and be the first to try these out in ’24!

SMALL POTS These varieties can be grown pot tight on the bench for high density production. MOUNDING HANGING BASKETS These varieties grow more upright producing baskets which do not require sleeving. TRAILING HANGING BASKETS These varieties will spill down over the edge of the pot. Ideal for large premium baskets. VINES Climbers, fillers, and trailers! These varieties are great for trellises, baskets, or deco pots!

OUR LIVING CATALOG

OUR 2024 TRIAL GARDEN WILL FEATURE: • 500 unique and custom designed combinations in hanging baskets, deco planters, and window boxes • 140+ new varieties from top industry breeders displayed in sun and shade beds and containers • AAS trial garden • 2024 ‘Plants Per Pot’ trial. You asked and we listened! We will be growing out some of our favorite varieties in our standard containers using different numbers of plants per pot. Use this trial to help decide the ideal number of plants-per-pot for your greenhouse. • 2024 ‘Cultural Fertilization’ trial. You asked about the feed we apply to the pots in the garden, and we’ll be growing some of our top varieties with clear water, standard feed, and some slow-release rates. • 2024 ‘Foliage in Full Sun’ trial. We are growing out tropical varieties in full sun to see how they perform. • Shaded seating with wireless internet available. • Our customer appreciation day will be held on Thursday August 15, 2024. Make plans to join us for garden tours, dinner, games with prizes, and more! Reservations for this event are preferred and can be made at customercare@mastyoungplants.com or by calling 1-800-541-3910. We invite you to follow along with updates on our website and on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Our 2024 trial garden report will be published to our website in October. Check back there to see which of the new for 2025 varieties really stood out this summer! What’s better than this catalog full of pictures of beautiful plants? A living catalog you see, smell, and touch by browsing through aisles and acres of beautiful plants! We call our summer trial garden a “living catalog” because it is where we field trial the varieties that we offer in our program. This allows us to see plants’ performance in actual garden conditions, compare genetics across varieties, evaluate new introductions, and appraise the performance of novel combinations. Our trial garden gives you confidence in your selections. Rather than choosing varieties for our program from breeder photo galleries, we carefully select from the varieties that meet our high standard for quality and which we are confident we can grow well for you. The summer trial garden is open to the public from weekdays 8:00-4:30 and is fully staffed during the Michigan Garden Plant Tour, happening from July 29 - August 9, 2024. Make plans to visit us this summer!
