Collaboration Collaborating with community leaders, organizations, and cultural ex- perts can enhance the effectiveness of opioid interventions. These part- nerships can provide insights into community needs, help develop cultur- ally appropriate programs, and enhance engagement. Culturally competent care is an essential framework for tailoring opioid interventions to improve outcomes in the African American community. By understanding the complex interplay of cultural factors, historical con- text, and systemic inequalities, healthcare providers can create interven- tions that are respectful, effective, and responsive to the unique needs of this community. By fostering trust, addressing stigma, and collaborating with community stakeholders, we can begin to address the opioid crisis in a way that respects the dignity and well-being of every individual within the African American community.

Building Trust and Rapport Building trust is a foundational aspect of culturally compe- tent care. Acknowledging the history of systemic discrim- ination and acknowledging mistrust of healthcare systems is crucial in establishing meaningful relationships between healthcare providers and African American individuals seeking opioid interventions. Community Engagement Engaging the community in opioid interventions is vital. Community organizations, faith-based groups, and grass- roots initiatives can play a pivotal role in raising awareness, providing resources, and fostering a supportive environ- ment.
