Self Distribution Recap 8.28.20

Recap: Aug. 28 Self-Distribution Implementation Update A Message from Lee Nicholson, Project Lead, Self-Distribution Transformation Thank you for joining us last Friday, Aug. 28, for our implementation call to discuss the supply chain transformation to a fully integrated self-distribution model. We hold these calls every few weeks to share updates on this initiative. On Friday’s call, we discussed Collaborative Asks, the ADUSA Brands Insights Gateway provided by IRI and the value for omnichannel growth, a facilities update for the transition and stand up of upcoming facilities within the self-managed network and took a closer look at the transition of the first facility in closer detail with perspectives from both the implementation team and the Stop & Shop brand.

Here are a few key highlights from the call:

• On Monday, Aug. 31, Ahold Delhaize USA companies will officially launch the new Collaborative Asks. A key component of the work to transform the supply chain lies in modernizing ways of working, both with internal teams and with supplier partners. The Collaborative Asks are born out of a great deal of work across all Ahold Delhaize USA companies to determine how to collaborate most effectively with the vendor community. • Tara Ponnett, VP of Sourcing Services for Retail Business Services, provided a reminder about what the Collaborative Asks include and offered some insights about the key things associates within ADUSA companies should emphasize in speaking to suppliers about the various areas covered by the Collaborative Asks. • Mark Williamson, VP of Retail Media Partnerships, Peapod Digital Labs, discussed the rebranding of Peapod Digital Labs Media Partnerships to AD Retail Media, and spotlighted a few of the new digital advertising offerings available through the Quotient platform beginning in September. • Dave Bass, SVP of Merchandising and Marketing Services for Retail Business Services, discussed the value provided by the Ahold Delhaize USA Brands Insights Gateway, a partnership with IRI that leverages its Unify platform. Frequent Shopper Program, Point of Sale, Market Share, Supply Chain and now Ecommerce data is available through the IRI tool for all brands. This data is being leveraged through the Category Performance Tool reports within the Unify tool. By leveraging the data available through IRI, each of the brands is well positioned to create the right assortments and promotions for their customers and have insights led conversations with suppliers. • David Spencer with IRI provided a look into the new ecommerce data and the value those insights can provide as teams make decisions in the brands and with supplier partners. He walked through some examples of the insights the data provides within the tool. • I also provided an update about the transition of facilities from C&S into the fully integrated self- distribution network, as well as timing for the first facilities, which includes the two Freetown locations, Jessup and Carlisle. • Jason Thomas, Lead for Replenishment for the self-distribution implementation, talked about the work going into transitioning the Freetown facilities, including key activities for the first facility – Freetown Grocery. • Jason also led a conversation with Jeff Dichele, SVP of Category Management for Stop & Shop, and Jim Labrecque, VP of Distribution Operations for Stop & Shop, about what the transition means to them and how it will benefit their teams and Stop & Shop as a whole.
