Cap sur Tamarin #3

Nou al zwenn

Tamarin isn’t all seaand surf. It is also home to abloomingart scene. Along the coastal road, in the alley leading to the bay, in hotels or at bus stops, eye-catching murals have been splashed around town. We had a chat with three of the artists behind them.

Evan Sohun Illustrator

“In 2015, The Bridge Eco-Arts Festival was organised in Tamarin by Trimetys Group. Raymond Levantard, Julia Carosin, ArmandGachet and myself, among other artists, were given some space on the walls near the bay to paint on. It was my first time painting live and on that scale! I camped out on the beach for two days, while working on one of Toudim’s (my rabbit-like character) first public appearances. It was such a lovely moment of exploration and discovery!”

Kim Siew Founder of Lakaz d'Art

“In 2018, Lakaz d'Art was invited to add a youthful touch to Veranda Tamarin Hotel. We had seven artists, three days, and multiple walls on which to depict our vision of the region. What a blast it was! Imagine a band having a jam session and you'll get the idea. The combination of our different styles made for a colourful piece of art that calls for exploration."

Élizabeth de Marcy Chelin-Chabert Founder of My Pop-Up Store

“My Pop-Up Store painted three bus stops along the coastal road of Tamarin. Their designs hint at funny scenes that locals have surely come across: Tamarin's goats hanging out at those same bus stops! Next, we'd like to develop a collaborative project : vilaz coloriaz. The idea is to have artists draw a contemporary mural and leave it blank for people from the village to colour in. If anyone would like to help, we are still looking for ways to finance this project”
