Diary of an HR Manager

Wednesday The great thing about Easter holiday week is that the office is quiet, rather like a ship anchored in port and the crew ashore. I’d decided not to go away this time as I wanted to move things along. 8.52 a.m. Natalie arrived. I took her to see the CEO, who also had decided to stay around over the holiday. She talked us through the big plan:

When formal consultancy would be announced The selection criteria for those to be offered jobs in Peterborough The packages for those who would be made redundant It was agreed to augment statutory redundancy payments by two weeks’ pay for every year of continuous service worked. Subject to the employee staying and working satisfactorily to the end.

The CEO had produced a rough list of the employees she wanted to move to Peterborough. These were either managerial or specialist, 29 in total. I was on that list. We needed to consider these as special cases, what relocation assistance could be offered, plus any other incentives. Natalie and I had suggested a ‘temporary’ number of 11 employees
