G-P Invests $30M For New Equipment At Owosso, MI Plant Atlanta, Georgia based Georgia-Pacific announced a $30 million investment in newer equipment at its corrugated plant in Owosso, Michigan, that will improve the plant's throughput and print capability. The upgrades include a new corrugator, converter, sin- gle facer, preheater, glue machine, and control systems as well as an upgrade to the existing single facer and unitiz- er. By enabling the double wall capability, Owosso will be able to expand its customer base and provide expanded products to current customers.

Owosso Plant Director of Operations, Mark Humrich, added, “Our team has performed at high levels producing quality products for our customers with the older equip- ment. The investment being made in our facility has every- one excited and is great for both our employees and the community as it helps set us up for long-term prosperity.” The legacy corrugator was taken offline at the end of 2022 after producing enough material to satisfy G-P’s cus- tomer needs until the new corrugator is ready to begin production. Installation of the new equipment has begun and testing is projected to take place in February with the first production run expected by the end of the month. The Owosso plant employs approximately 130 people. It was started by Olin Kraft in 1964 and purchased by Geor- gia-Pacific in 1985. It serves customers in Michigan, Indi- ana, Ohio, Illinois, and Canada. By the end of 2022, Georgia-Pacific had invested ap- proximately $1.8 billion in capital improvement projects throughout the company. The Owosso team as they celebrated the corrugator mile- stone taken during the last shift change for the machine between the first and second shifts.
