that they attended rival high schools didn’t matter much to kacy, a native of Martinsburg, and Andrew, originally from Falling Waters. They met when she was a junior at her school’s homecoming dance, which Andrew attended with someone else. The pair struck up a friendship that continued until they both graduated from college and began dating. They made a pact early on in their relationship that they would have an adventure together every summer. Their first summer together included whitewater rafting on the New River. The second summer they chose a hot air balloon ride over the Shenandoah Valley. And in that balloon, their relationship changed forever when Andrew got down on one knee and proposed. When the balloon landed, their parents were waiting with a champagne toast. The couple chose the historic Martinsburg Roundhouse as their venue for both the ceremony and reception. The bride was escorted by her father and wore an ivory-colored striped Hayley Paige ball gown. Her bridesmaids wore floor-length black dresses, and they carried bouquets of white and cream-colored flowers with eucalyptus accents. The couple exchanged traditional vows and held a unity ceremony that included adding objects to a time capsule that they plan to open on their fifth wedding anniversary. A reception followed the ceremony and incorporated as many historical elements of the building as possible, including memorabilia, photos, artifacts, and history booklets about the structure placed on each table. In true West Virginia fashion, the night came to a close with “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and a sparkler send-off as the couple drove away in the bride’s parent’s 1970 Chevelle convertible. The couple chose Barbados for their honeymoon. They returned home to Martinsburg, where Kacy works as a teacher and Andrew is a pharmacist.
