MEGHAN EDWARDS SMITH & NATHAN DANIEL JONES SOUTH CHARLESTON | 9.22.18
charleston native meghan met nathan, a native of kingwood, at a house party when the two were attending West Virginia University. They kept in touch when Meghan left Morgantown for the summer and made their relationship official when she returned to school in the fall. They dated for seven years before Nathan surprised Meghan with a giant bag of Christmas presents in 2017. Inside the bag among all the other presents was a diamond ring. Meghan said yes, and the couple was married in an outdoor ceremony at the Little Creek Golf Club in South Charleston. She wore a white lace A-line dress with tulle over a pink underskirt with spaghetti straps for the occasion. Her dress was accented with a thin, pale pink sash encrusted with rhinestones, and she carried a bouquet of pink and ivory-colored roses with snapdragons and accents of greenery. The groom wore a sandstone-colored suit with a pink silk tie. Meghan was escorted to the altar by her father, where she exchanged simple vows with the groom in the short ceremony officiated by Aakash Vaghela, a friend of the couple. A light rain set in as the ceremony ended, and the couple and their guests made their way inside the clubhouse for a reception. The party was lively with toasts and speeches, a toy wagon full of bubbles and coloring supplies for the children in attendance, and a photo booth. The reception ended with a rousing rendition of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” just before a sparkler send-off. The couple settled into married life together in Charleston, where Meghan works in for the West Virginia Department of Commerce and Nathan works as the executive director of the Craik-Patton House.
