jennifer met j.d. in august 2013 at work. Five years later, the Ohio State Stadium served as the romantic backdrop when J.D., a native of Huntington, asked Jennifer, from Barboursville, to be his wife just before the pair headed into a Taylor Swift concert. The couple chose to hold the wedding at the YMCA Kennedy Center in Huntington for their big day. The bride wore an ivory-colored gown with crystal and pearl-encrusted straps and a sweetheart neckline. A special pearl necklace given to the bride by her grandparents was intertwined in her bouquet of white and blue hydrangeas, peach and white roses, olive branch leaves, and baby’s breath. The groom wore a light gray tuxedo with a striped tie and Columbus Blue Jackets cuff links. The ceremony and reception music were important to the couple, and they chose several songs that were significant to their relationship. They were even provided one track, “Together” by Steven Curtis Chapman, directly from the artist when they contacted him after struggling to find the music elsewhere. They exchanged traditional vows and held a unity tree ceremony before departing the ceremony to “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. A reception immediately followed. Guests dined on lasagna, breadsticks, and side salads. The wedding cake was a small, two-tiered chocolate and peanut butter– flavored cake with Italian cream and carrot cake cupcakes positioned around it on the cake table. In lieu of guest favors, the couple made a charitable donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of the bride. Following the wedding the couple honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The couple returned home to Barboursville, where J.D. is the safety and operations manager for the now Mountain Health Arena and Jennifer is the executive assistant for Marshall Health OB/GYN department.
