elise and chase share one of the most quintessential love stories possible in the Mountain State: Sparks first flew at a Mountaineer football game in Morgantown. Chase, originally from Sutton, proposed to Elise, a native of Wheeling, six years after the couple first met during a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway at Cafe Cimino Country Inn. Chase laid the ring box on the bed in their room, ensuring it would be the first thing Elise would see when they returned from dinner that night. He dropped to one knee and asked Elise to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes, and the couple began planning their Wheeling wedding. They chose a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Michael Parish, where the bride, escorted by her father, walked down the aisle to “Trumpet Voluntary,” the same song her mother had walked to 43 years before. For her wedding, the bride wore a beaded, off-the-shoulder gown with a cathedral-length train and scalloped lace trim. She carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas, roses, and baby’s breath. The couple exchanged traditional vows before joining guests for a reception at the Glessner Ballroom at Oglebay resort. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour before dining on New York strip steak, balsamic glazed salmon, whipped potatoes, and other sides. Family and friends of the couple baked hundreds of cookies for a traditional cookie table, and the couple cut a three-tiered chocolate and marbled wedding cake with white buttercream icing. Guests were treated to favors by Sarris Candies of milk chocolate covered pretzels—a favorite of the bride and groom. The couple spent their honeymoon in Hawaii before returning home to Charleston, where Elise works as a compensation analyst at Charleston Area Medical Center and Chase is a lawyer at the West Virginia Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
