DIANA BERENICE FLORES & IAN DANIEL THISTLETHWAITE FAYETTEVILLE | 6.1.19

the magic of the christmas season got a hold of Diana and Ian when they met in 2015. Diana, originally from Mexico, met Ian, a native of Charleston, at a Christmas party during the holidays. The pair struck up a conversation and had an amazing time getting to know each other during the party. He invited her to dinner in the days that followed the party, and they celebrated New Year’s Eve together, ringing in the occasion with a kiss. Two years later, Ian was finishing up medical school when he decided to propose to Diana during a visit. The setting was Snowshoe Mountain Resort, blazing orange and red on their special day in late September. The couple’s Labradoodle puppy delivered a golden pouch to Diana that contained the ring. She said yes without hesitation, and the couple began planning their summer wedding. The simple ceremony took place on the Beauty Mountain Trail in Fayetteville, overlooking the surrounding mountainscape and the New River Gorge. The couple’s parents were their only witnesses. For her wedding, the bride wore a V-neck, A-line rose gold–colored dress with embroidered flowers on the bodice and a tulle hem. She was escorted down the trail by her father. She and the groom exchanged traditional vows, and the couple and their parents then shared a champagne toast at the ceremony site. After the wedding, the couple joined family and friends for a reception at the groom’s family home. Guests dined on barbecue and a three-tiered red velvet wedding cake. The couple has settled into married life together in Charleston, where she works as a graphic designer and he as a physician.
