DEMI YAMILLETTE FUENTES-RAMÍREZ & MIGUEL JUAN ACOSTA-JIMÉNEZ RINCÓN, PUERTO RICO | 6.30.19
demi and mike met in middle school in cabo rojo, Puerto Rico. They were close friends for a few years and, once they reached high school, they made their relationship official. Years later they moved to Morgantown, where Demi continued her college career and completed her master’s degree at West Virginia University. After 10 years together, Demi told Mike it was time to get married, and they decided to celebrate their 11th anniversary by exchanging wedding vows. They knew they would get married in Puerto Rico, where their family members still reside, and chose the Rincón of the Seas Grand Caribbean Hotel for the ceremony setting overlooking the beach. Demi wore a Cinderella-style ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and lace off- the-shoulder straps. The bridesmaids wore blue chiffon dresses with ruffles matching the beach waves. Mike and his groomsmen wore traditional black suits with blue bow ties. Since the wedding was Disney-themed, the father of the bride surprised the groom with Star Wars character escorts for the wedding party during the ceremony. Reception tables were adorned with glittered Disney couples as centerpieces, Mickey Mouse confetti, and Disney trivia cards. The couple shared their first dance to an acoustic version of “Follow You” by Bring Me The Horizon. For the father–daughter dance, Demi and her father choreographed Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Afterward, as a gift for the bride, her father and cousins, all opera singers, performed her favorite song, “Hallelujah.” The surprises didn’t even stop there. The bride’s uncles then sang and performed one of her favorite childhood songs, “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys. After an enchanting day of music, love, and surprises, the couple invited guests into a circle for a West Virginia custom to end their wedding. They played “Take Me Home, Country Roads” with family and friends, embracing their new home.
