amanda and jordan studied theater at the university of pittsburgh. They were cast in the same show and played factory workers side by side. It took Jordan, a native of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, a year to work up the nerve to ask Amanda, originally from Petersburg, out on a first date. He finally did, and eight years later he asked her to marry him. The proposal was at Dolly Sods Wilderness, a place the couple visited the first time she took him to her hometown. The ceremony took place at Amanda’s hometown church. Her father escorted her down the aisle, and her uncle played the piano for the ceremony. She wore a crepe, bias-cut gown that was designed by her mother and aunt. She also wore her great-grandmother’s brooch on a gold chain and a pair of her grandmother’s earrings. Her bouquet featured peach roses, globe thistle, Queen Anne’s lace, and white anemones. The couple exchanged traditional vows before joining family and friends for a reception in a new venue built by the bride’s parents just for the occasion. Guests enjoyed pepperoni rolls and miniature pierogies representing the couple’s West Virginia and Pittsburgh roots. Dinner included classic items like beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes. The reception offered a traditional cookie table with cookies provided by both families, and the couple carved a blue and white marbled wedding cake decorated with gold accents and flowers made by the bride’s college roommate. Guests joined in for a rendition of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” before enjoying a late-night snack of corn dogs and a sparkler send-off for the couple. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Thailand in the months following their wedding. They currently reside in Takoma Park, Maryland, where Amanda works as an event designer for Design Foundry and Jordan is a law student at the University of Virginia.
