nathan’s best friend, eric, a native of charleston, is a critical component of this West Virginia love story. He introduced the couple in 2015 at The Copper Pint Pub in Charleston. None of them knew that night that he would end up officiating Ashley and Nathan’s wedding ceremony four years later. The couple hit it off that first night, sharing pictures of their dogs with one another and scheduling a playdate for them in the following weeks. They soon became inseparable, and Nathan planned a romantic proposal at The Greenbrier, one of Ashley’s favorite places to visit. The couple chose a destination wedding in Vero Beach, Florida. The bride, originally fromMorgantown, wore a fitted mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline and vintage-inspired lace cascading over tulle. She also wore a full-length lace veil with sequins and beaded appliques and carried a bouquet of pink roses, Asiatic lilies, and greenery. The groom wore a royal blue suit with a gold satin tie, a nod to the bride and groom’s ties to West Virginia University. Rain showers meant that the outdoor ceremony that Ashley dreamed of wouldn’t be possible. Her mother and the groom’s mother went to work arranging a cozy replacement setting with a fireplace surrounded by floral arrangements. Ashley was escorted down the aisle by her father, and the couple exchanged vows in the ceremony officiated by their dear friend Eric. A wedding-cake piñata smashing signaled the beginning of the reception and treated guests to ring pops, glow sticks, sunglasses, and more. Guests dined on steak and chicken piccata for dinner, followed by a three-tiered naked lemon-flavored wedding cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing. The reception came to an end with a sparkler send-off, but an after- party lasted well into the night. Ashley and Nathan took a wedding trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, before returning home to Little Elm, Texas, where she works as a cardiology physician assistant and he works in human resources at Toyota Motor North America.
