PCOA Programs and Services Healthy Living Programs

Looking for tools to help you live and age well? Our Healthy Living classes are designed to help adults 60+ manage their health, stay fit, prevent falls, and enhance quality of life. These evidence-based programs address common concerns like fear of falling, balance issues, and living well with chronic conditions. Take charge of your health and enjoy a better quality of life! • Modest fees cover the costs of materials for programs. • Pre-registration is required. • In-person and remote options may be available. EnhanceFitness® Designed for older adults, this falls prevention, evidence-based program focuses on stretching, flexibility, low-impact aerobics, strength training, and balance. Classes accommodate all fitness levels, with seated and standing options and are led by certified instructors. Classes are offered in-person and remotely, three times per week. Don’t wait— classes fill up quickly! Cost: $36/month

A Matter of Balance Falls are NOT an inevitable part of aging! This small-group workshop (10–15 participants) meets twice a week for four weeks and focuses on changing thought patterns to reduce the fear of falling, set realistic activity goals, and improve strength and balance. Learn practical tips to make your home safer and view falls as controllable. Cost: $30 per person covers the cost of the book and materials. Healthy Living with Ongoing Health Conditions This six-week workshop is designed for older adults with chronic conditions like hypertension, arthritis, heart disease, and other ongoing conditions. Participants develop skills and knowledge to better manage their health, understand personal risk factors, and build confidence, leading to better health and reduced need for healthcare interventions. Healthy Living with Diabetes This six-week program focuses on managing Type 2 Diabetes and prediabetes. Topics include menu planning, communication, balanced eating, physical activity, and exercise to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Healthy Living with Chronic Pain Discover tools to manage chronic pain, set goals, and make meaningful changes. Over six weeks, participants explore strategies to manage pain, practice self-management techniques, and share experiences to improve daily life. Cost: $30 per person per workshop covers the cost of the book and materials.
