Byron Has Everything! It’s more than just location, amenities, or aesthetics—though those matter. What truly defines a vibrant urban village are the people who call it home. Byron has all of the above and more. We’re privileged to be the caretakers of Springbank Park, a gathering space with deep roots in the community. Spanning 300 acres along the Thames River, Springbank has brought families together for generations—for play, fitness, reflection, and peace in nature. Since becoming a hub for the London Street Railway in 1896, the park grew to include tennis courts, lawn bowling greens, a zoo, a campground and a dance hall. In 1920, the iconic miniature train was added—a feature that still delights visitors to this day. In 1958, Storybook Gardens opened its doors, enchanting visitors with rides and attractions themed around popular fairy tales and nursery rhymes ever since. Outdoor adventure is a core part of Byron life, thanks in part to Boler Mountain, formerly the London Ski Club, founded in 1949. What started with a few cleared slopes, a rope tow, and a modest chalet has evolved into a dynamic, year-round destination featuring skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and summer activities that draw in visitors from across Southwestern Ontario. Nature lovers can explore the vast network of green spaces that make Byron truly special. Warbler Woods, over 40 hectares of scenic trails, connects to the Kains Woods ESA. Known for its rolling hills, ravines, and rich biodiversity, it offers 12 access points and more than 5 kilometers of managed trails. Byron also serves as a launching point for an expansive network of bike trails—leading riders downtown, north to Fanshawe Park, and south to Kiwanis Park near Hamilton Road. Flint Cottage

cobblestone landmark. Flint also built the Flint Cottage and Flint Shelter, located in Springbank Park. The cottage, dating back to 1837, once served as a shelter for the Springbank Line of the London Street Railway. These historical gems offer a glimpse into the legacy of Byron’s early settlers. The Byron Pool, built in 1957 thanks to a $25,000 fundraising effort by the Optimist Club, continues to be a summertime staple. A major renovation in 2019 modernized the facility for a new generation of swimmers. Nearby, the Byron Optimist Community Centre (BOCC), built in 1953, remains a hub for youth and families with its sports courts, playgrounds, fields, and year-round programming offered by the City of London. Community events thrive at the Byron Sports Complex, a 22- acre venue with soccer fields and baseball diamonds. For over 40 years, it’s been the site of the annual Canada Day Fireworks Celebration, entirely funded by the Optimist Club of Byron. It continues to serve as a vital gathering place for local sports and celebrations. Our tree-lined streets are more than picturesque—they’re part of the City of London’s Tree Canopy Conservation Program, aiming for 34% canopy coverage by 2065. These green spaces remind us of the balance between urban living and the natural beauty that surrounds us. And above all else, what makes Byron truly special is its people. Whether you’ve lived here for decades or have only recently made Byron home, there’s a shared sense of pride and connection that ties us together. We come together in times of need, we celebrate one another’s successes and we remain rooted in a strong sense of community. Byron is more than a place on a map—it’s a thriving, caring village with a story to tell and a future to grow.
