ATKORE – THE LARGEST CABLE MANAGEMENT MANUFACTURER IN UK AND IRELAND – ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF THEIR NEW TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER… Atkore bolsters sales team with newpromotion
A tkore, manufacturer of Unistrut, Marco, Flexicon, Flytec and Vergokan has announced the promotion of Gareth Howes from Area Sales Manger to the position of Technical Sales Manager. Gareth has a wealth of experience in the industry and a deep knowledge of Atkore products. He talks to Electrical Magazine about the company and his hopes to continue building the brand in his new role: EM: Gareth, you are a well-known figure in the cable management sector, how long have you worked in the industry and what roles have you previously held? GH: I have worked in the industry for 28 years, first with Calvert Electric 1993-98, then Mita/Schneider Electric 1998-17 and with Atkore from January 2017 - all concentrating on cable management products. Before this I was an apprentice electrician, after qualifying I knew what I wanted to do and moved into sales which included eight years in an estate agency. EM: What have you learned about the needs and requirements of electrical contractors, distributors and installers during that time? GH: It’s better to listen first, then be sure to follow through with your promises. EM: What steps will you, and Atkore, take to ensure that the company meets those needs? GH: Ongoing staff training and regular customer satisfaction surveys help us continually improve in all areas. EM: What makes Atkore’s range of products stand out in this competitive sector? GH: We are a worldwide company always investing in future products, with strong core values, striving to offer the best products and advice at all times.
EM: In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges facing the electrical industry at the moment? GH: Forecasting customer requirements and getting raw materials to meet demands. EM: What steps are Atkore taking to help contractors overcome those challenges? GH: We only deal with approved reliable suppliers. Atkore have superb buying powers and have a highly motivated management and sales team. EM: What’s the ‘next big thing’ in cable management and has Atkore got that covered? GH: Speed of installation is key. Anything that saves the client time will always grab attention. Atkore run a programme with regular updates where employees are encouraged to put forward ideas for new products. EM: What do you think has attributed to the growth and popularity of the Atkore range of cable management products in Ireland? GH: We are the largest cable management manufacturer in UK and Ireland. We have superb stock through our local partners and offer excellent technical support and relevant documentation. EM: What are you looking forward most to accomplishing in your new position? GH: Growing the Atkore brand to it’s full potential and helping all our partners deal and increase their business with Atkore. EM: Away fromwork, where do you call home and what do you enjoy doing when you’re not in the office or on the road? GH: I was born and live in Belfast, definitely a home bird. My main focus and enjoyment is spending time with my
