T he Association of Electrical Wholesalers (AEW) has been making steady progress this year on two of their key programmes – Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling and staff training. In the 12-month period from July 2020 to June 2021, the AEW increased their WEEE recycling performance by 8% versus the previous 12-month period and, in the six-month period from January - June 2021, the AEW increased their WEEE recycling performance by 16% compared to the same period in 2020. “It’s fantastic to see WEEE recycling gaining momentum like this across all AEW members,” says AEW Administrator Ken Legros, “and we will continue to strive to improve our performance in the remaining months of this year.” The AEW’S staff training programme has also been going strong this year, with over 200 modules completed since the launch last March. This training programme is designed for all staff that work in electrical wholesale businesses that are members of the AEW. This training initiative is very flexible for both manager and learner. Managers can choose how many learners they want to include in the programme and, in conjunction with their managers, learners can choose which modules they want to study and also in what order they would like to study them.

“It’s fantastic to see WEEE recycling gaining momentum like this across all AEWmembers.”

Subsidies are still available to help with the cost of the training and, for more information, please contact Ken Legros at admin@iebg.ie The AEW is planning an Awards Lunch in May 2022 to celebrate the best performers in both WEEE recycling and the training programme, so watch this space for further updates.

The AEW is affiliated to the Electrical Industries Federation of Ireland (EIFI) and represents the views of electrical wholesalers in that forum. For more information, visit: www.aew.ie
