The Lakes South Morang College Newsletter PRINCIPAL REPORT
What I have felt is sensitivity, belief and purpose towards individual students and the importance of our wellbeing! What I have been completely beguiled by is creativity in planning, in classes, addressing the wider and individual needs and beginning to take risks that will bring greater outcomes! What I have noticed is lots of positive conversations in every part of the school, with emphasis on improving our work, our students and ourselves!
What I feel and see is a wonderful atmosphere, a positive spirit, teaming laughter, some mischief and acceptance of everyone!
What I am excited about are our Prep enrolments are beginning to increase so our Kinders are actively engaging with us. Year 9 students are predominantly staying with us for their senior years which will have an enormous impact on subjects we can offer and run from 2024. With the support of our committed and focused School Council our outwardly appearance is changing to reflect and highlight what IS HAPPENING ON THE INSIDE! External fencing, pathways, new gardens, updated security, shade sails, a dedicated Year 7 area and a commitment to improving school safety and psychological safety for everyone is paramount! What we are noticing is that we are quickly building outstanding community partnerships underwritten by our whole school narrative of striving for academic excellence and high levels of school pride in all of our pursuits. We will continue our desire and commitment to engage former students by setting up an alumni, beginning a parent/carer and friends club/group and committing to many more opportunities that we have yet to uncover that celebrate and put student and staff achievements in neon lights! We have an endless opportunity to put our college at the top of the class! Where our programs and resources are equal to the amazing skill, knowledge, expertise, commitment and resilience of our staff! As parents, carers, guardians, critical friends and supports, “ Your every action, decision, behaviour and instruction facilitates what our learning culture will look, feel, smell and breathe like! No strategic plan or piece of paper will impact like you have done so successfully this year! ” I am feeling that our community is building something very special that will take us to many, many highs! With countless energy, goodwill and an ability to ride through bumps along the way WE WILL achieve in so many exciting ways and through many forms!
In closing and wishing you a wonderful holiday and festive season …
Have a wonderful, safe and relaxing festive season and holiday! Bonnie, Marcus & I will be waiting for the return of all of our lovely 710 plus students including many newbies with open arms on January 30, 2023 our “ Meet & Greet Day ”
