When Love Shows Up Right on Time Late Texts and Early Sparks
Some love stories don’t start as planned. Ours began with a missed connection, many confused texts, a poorly timed nap, and a welcomed second chance. But in that imperfect beginning, we found a spark: shared laughs, common interests, and a sense that maybe we had stumbled onto something real. Ashley and I met through online dating and made plans to meet in person. I drove to her apartment late at night with no idea where I was. Then her texts stopped.
favorite thing is how I can make her laugh, even in the worst mood. As an entrepreneur, my head is often way in the future, and she can bring me back to Earth. She’s my biggest supporter, the person I can tell my deepest fears to, and she believes in me more than I do sometimes. We love to laugh together. Early on, I made an internal promise to share as many experiences with Ashley as possible. We’ve done it all: concerts, UFC fights, Vegas shows, and raves. She often leans over and whispers, “Thank you for sharing that moment with me.” I wait for it every time.
all. That acceptance has been a theme throughout our relationship. We can tell each other anything. I proposed on Christmas Eve, telling her how much I love and appreciate her and want to spend forever with her. It was perfect, and she was totally surprised when I pulled out the ring. Our wedding felt perfect, too. Our ceremony was bilingual, and we said our vows in Spanish. We even nailed the big dip at the end of our dance. Last Christmas, I gave her an empty photo album to fill with memories. It’s become a Salazar family tradition that we plan to continue every year. Ashley makes me want to be a better man, and I’m always thinking of ways to do more for her and us. Ashley had to learn to be more open, ask for help, and let the walls down. We still make it a point to actively date each other, with two scheduled date nights a month. For Ashley, it’s about doing things for each other. Love is an action, and it’s the little, consistent things that keep a relationship strong. From the snowy adventures to scooping together, we’ve found a love that’s perfectly ours, and we can’t wait for what the next chapter holds.
Frustrated and confused, I was convinced she had ghosted me. The next morning, she blew up my phone apologizing, and I could tell how much

that night and was mortified. She wondered whether she should even respond, fearing she had failed that first impression. But something about her genuine nature made us give it a second chance. We met the next night, and it was easy right away. We had a lot in common, from a shared interest in crystals and spirituality to having the same favorite animal, elephants. Ashley knew from that first meeting that we would be in each other’s lives for a long time. Ashley said she fell in love with me after watching how I treat others kindly. Her

We also hiked to Delicate Arch, where I slipped in the snow and nearly fell over the edge. The trip was the first time I told anyone about my idea to start a poop scooping business. I expected her to think it was weird, but she didn’t judge me at

While the cold weather may have you bundling up and slowing down, your dog doesn’t take a break, and neither does Salazar Scoops. As we head into the winter season, you may wonder how it will impact your service with us and your yard. Many of our pet families ask how we handle snow days, cancellations, and what to expect with scheduling during the snowy months. If your dog is pooping, we’ll be scooping, and our winter policy ensures you’ll still have a clean yard, no matter what time of year it is. Salazar Scoops scoops year-round, even when the weather shifts, but safety always comes first for our team. If the weather conditions make it too dangerous to travel, like icy roads, active snowfall, or storms, our team will postpone service until it’s safe. If snow has already fallen in your yard and the accumulation is minimal, under 6 inches, we will continue as scheduled, picking up what we can see. Once the snow melts, we’ll return to clean up anything that was covered up. If we must miss a visit due to the weather conditions, we typically make it up the following week, doing double-duty pickup to ensure nothing is left behind. Staying on your regular schedule, rather than canceling or skipping pickups, will help you stay on track with your yard cleanup and avoid going on the wait list. Last year, we experienced 3–4 weeks of high winter demand, so it’s best to continue your service as planned to maintain your yard without interruptions. Someone has to pick up the yard eventually, so instead of canceling and potentially losing your spot in line, rely on us to keep your space clean and on schedule. In addition to keeping up with regular scooping, we offer spring cleaning at no additional cost. We pick up anything missed during the winter to prepare your yard for warmer weather. Cold Noses, Clean Yards Our Winter Policy Has You Covered
As the temperatures dip and daylight starts to dwindle sooner in the evenings, staying active often falls to the bottom of the priority list. It’s easy to settle into the routine of indoor comfort with more screens and less movement. However, carving out time for a daily walk, even in the chillier months, is a simple and effective way to stay physically and mentally sharp. The Case for a Daily Walk Less Scrolling, More Strolling
FALL AND WINTER ARE NATURE’S UNDERRATED WORKOUT MONTHS.
There’s something calming about a quiet sidewalk covered in fall leaves or a peaceful neighborhood dusted with frost. The colder seasons offer a refreshing and grounding change of scenery. A short walk outdoors allows you to unplug and take in the subtle beauty that’s easy to miss when you’re rushing from one indoor task to the next. THE SCIENCE OF SEASONAL MOVEMENT IS REAL. Cooler air does more than wake you up. It makes your body work harder to stay warm, thus increasing the calorie burn of even a casual stroll. That quick burst of movement in the cold can also boost circulation, improve energy levels, and clear mental fog, especially if you’ve been sitting at a desk for most of the day. CREATE A COZY ROUTINE YOU LOOK FORWARD TO. One of the best ways to stay consistent during these cooler months is to make your walk enjoyable. Layer up in comfortable gear, choose a playlist or podcast you love, and set a daily reminder to step outside. Whether it’s 10 minutes around the block or a long weekend loop, consistency matters more than intensity. MAKE IT SOCIAL, REWARDING, OR BOTH. If you aren’t feeling motivated solo, ask a friend or neighbor to join you a few times a week. If you prefer going alone, add a small reward: a stop for a warm drink, or the satisfaction of checking it off your daily goals list. These little incentives can make your walk something to look forward to.

Meet Your Scooper
Jared’s Mission to Make Life Brighter for People and Pets
With a love of dogs and a lifelong passion for helping others, Jared Antunez is always looking for ways to make life a little brighter for people and animals. Here at Salazar Scoops, our team is at the heart of everything we do, and Jared brings his dedication and kindness to every yard. Before Jared started with us early this year, he worked full time for DoorDash. He loved driving around, listening to his favorite podcasts and songs, but more than that, he loved bringing smiles to people’s faces. A lifelong dog lover, he was drawn to an ad for Salazar Scoops, where he knew he could work with animals and continue to help people. “The thing that I love the most about the job is anytime I get to a lawn and their dogs are out, it makes my day,” he said. “I also enjoy seeing how people’s lawns improve over time, especially when I could be there for the first appointment.”
He is especially grateful to work for a company that cares for its employees and offered him support when one of his dogs passed.
Jared has his own four-legged best friend, one of his favorite breeds, a mini Aussie named Fry, after the show “Futurama.” When he’s not scooping,
“They brought me soup and got me a framed picture of my dog,” he said. “Anthony and Ashley have been amazing bosses who always take good care of me.” Jared said he cares about doing the right thing in the moment, whether helping someone struggling with a box or picking up an extra scoop in the front yard, even when it’s not part of the job.
Jared likes listening to a wide range of music, watching superhero movies, crocheting, or enjoying his comfort food: Buldak ramen with Kewpie mayo, green onions, and tofu or Spam. Jared is happy as long as he’s surrounded by animals, but one day he would like to help people train their dogs, because many can’t afford it.
We are so proud to have Jared on our team. He’s proof that kindness to people and animals makes the world a better place.
“That’s just how my parents raised me,” he said. “If you have the ability to do something for somebody else, you should do that.”

How a Rescue Dog Is Lifting Spirits at Sea
4
Along with getting his sea legs, he’s learning various commands that will help in his role, which is “designed to support the emotional wellness, morale, and mental health of sailors and Marines,” according to the nonprofit. Raider will join a team of five handlers and live full time on the USS Makin Island in his own room. Crew members will get their wish, and any time the base deploys, he’ll be along for the ride. Known for his goofy personality and affinity for belly rubs, he’s already bringing cheer to the base and inspiring others to follow in his pawprints. The nonprofit is busy training morale dogs for other ships. “Everyone is just really excited to have a furry companion to go with them when they’re underway,” Director of Operations and Training Nicky Moore said, adding, “What makes you happier than a dog?”
Anchors Aweigh, Belly Rubs Ahead Meet the Navy’s First Full-Time Morale Dog
For one special soldier, the mission is clear: Provide comfort, lift spirits, and stand by his crew, four paws at a time. Raider, a 1-year-old Lab mix from an animal rescue in San Diego, isn’t your typical recruit. He’s about to make waves as the first full-time morale dog on a Navy ship, and he could transform life at sea for hundreds of sailors. With a wagging tail and unwavering loyalty, this pup is ready to serve his country in the most heartwarming way. The nonprofit Shelter to Soldier has been training shelter dogs as service animals for veterans since 2012, with a mission to “save lives, two at a time.”
Though the organization partners dogs with individual veterans, it began bringing therapy dogs to Navy ships for special training outings and made a discovery. Crew members felt a special connection with the pups and kept asking, “Can we take this dog on deployment with us?” Raider is the first canine cadet for the job. He was adopted from Labs and More Rescue and has been deep in training since April. This new furry crew member has been working hard on learning to use a “potty patch” on board and special safety gear like booties for his paws and eye protection.
