CHERISHED MEMORIES AND MIXED EMOTIONS A Father’s Day Tribute to My Dad
Father’s Day holds a special significance for me as it reminds me of my father, who passed away at the age of 61 from colon cancer. As I grappled with the loss of my father, a few questions continued to cross my mind. My questions in natural medicine and health
Father’s Day reminds us how short life is and the importance of focusing on what truly matters. Since my dad passed away in 1997, I have celebrated Father’s Day with my mother. My dad was always there for me, offering advice and pushing me to study hard. He worked in a factory and farm, where
care were: Why did this happen? Could anything have been done differently? Which lead me to examine lifestyle choices and personal health practices more in depth. Those then translated into inspiration to work harder and acknowledge the inevitable nature of mortality. As I accept that everyone’s time eventually ends, I’ve been motivated to work harder. Remembering my father on Father’s Day has been a complex and bittersweet journey. For many, this is a time of celebration and gratitude, but for those who have lost their fathers, it becomes a day of reflection and remembrance. This day is a reminder to honor his memory, cherish the wisdom he left behind, and recognize his impact on my life when he was here and in his absence.
he loved being outdoors and working hard to provide for his family. Becoming a father has taught me that it is not just about giving your kids advice, it’s about being a role model. Kids learn more from watching
how you live your life than from what you tell them. They observe everything like sponges; they watch our every little move, so acting in a way that sets an excellent example for them is essential.
Father’s Day is about remembering my dad and the lessons he taught me, being an excellent example for my children, and taking proactive steps to care for our health. It is a day to reflect on what matters and to make the most of our time with the people we love. Father’s Day without my father is a time of mixed emotions,
blending sorrow with gratitude. His passing encouraged me to reflect on the importance of health and proactivity. My dad’s legacy inspires me, emphasizing that our time on earth may be short, but the values and memories we leave behind will live forever.
Early detection is crucial in preventing colon cancer. Colonoscopies are effective, but not everyone is comfortable with them. LabCorp’s new innovative stool test just hit the market as an alternative. This test can screen for colon cancer; it is noninvasive, and I have been researching it for some time now. As I continue to dive into its intricacies, I plan to offer this option to my patients soon based on the positive results I have seen from it. More on that coming soon.

STRIDING TO SUCCESS HOW POWER WALKING BOOSTS YOUR FITNESS
according to a peer-reviewed 2013 study by researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Hartford Hospital. Another study found that runners and vigorous walkers showed similar reductions in the risk of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and coronary heart disease. Vigorous exercise also reduces such mental health problems as depression and anxiety, according to a 2006 study.
Runners and other workout buffs often make fun of power walkers, saying that walking — even at a vigorous pace — isn’t a real workout. Try telling that to TikTok fitness influencer Stefana Avara. Avara says she got great results from power walking 30–45 minutes daily at a 15-minute mile pace (about 4 mph on a treadmill). In the past, she had built strong, bulky thighs playing lacrosse and claimed she wanted to smooth out her quads. After just five weeks of power walking, she attained slimmer thighs while maintaining excellent muscle tone. Power walking involves moving faster and with more intention than regular walking. You keep your arms bent at a 90-degree angle and pump them vigorously back and forth as you stride. Power walkers also move their feet smoothly from heel to toe while striding ahead. Doing this correctly engages your whole body, including your
core muscles, raises your heart rate, and burns more calories.
A brisk walk elevates fat-burning hormones. According to Health.com, an hour of power walking uses more than 500 calories, compared with the 340 calories burned
To get the most out of a power walk, keep your chin up and focus your eyes on a point about 10 feet ahead of you to
by a brisk walker and the 238 calories consumed by a casual stroller. Power walking is also easier on the joints than running. Power walkers’ feet never leave the ground at the same time, while runners’ feet repeatedly strike the ground with greater force.
lengthen your stride. Pull your abdomen muscles in toward your spine. Tighten your glutes to help propel you ahead. Follow these rules of good form and swing your arms
People who take frequent, vigorous walks reap almost as many health benefits as runners,
while striding energetically ahead, Avara

THE SILENT IMPACT ON YOUR HEALTH
Hypothyroidism Explained
Our thyroid hormone is vital in the human body. It is responsible for regulating metabolism, energy levels, and overall bodily functions. Knowing its onsets and symptoms is crucial. WHAT IS HYPOTHYROIDISM? Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, also known as an underactive thyroid. In its early stages, hypothyroidism may not cause noticeable symptoms. However, if left untreated, it can lead to serious health issues over time, such as high cholesterol and heart problems.
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This condition arises when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the thyroid gland. BE AWARE OF HYPOTHYROIDISM The root of the problem lies in the immune system’s attack, which must be specifically addressed. Without intervention, the autoimmune response can spread, potentially damaging other organs such as cartilage, the brain, and the stomach lining. TREATING HYPOTHYROIDISM To effectively treat this condition, it is essential to identify why the immune system is out of balance. This involves removing the antigen that triggers the response of determining whether the individual is TH1 or TH2 dominant. From there, specific dietary changes
and nutritional supplements can be introduced to slow and eventually stop the autoimmune attack.
WHAT ARE THE TRIGGERS FOR HASHIMOTO’S?
During pregnancy, your body shifts from TH1-dominant in the third trimester to TH2- dominant after birth. Factors such as gluten sensitivity, blood sugar problems, estrogen surges, leaky gut syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and genetic susceptibility can also influence thyroid health. It is crucial to get a proper evaluation if you suspect that you have Hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s; contact us at Natural Solutions for Health for a comprehensive case review and a tailored treatment plan that is just right for you.
WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF HYPOTHYROIDISM?
The leading cause of Hypothyroidism in the U.S. is an autoimmune disease called

REFRESHING FRUIT SMOOTHIE
Do you often feel like you are a professional dieter? You may have tried it all and still are waiting to see the results you wished for. Over 50% of Americans are on a diet, and in 2006, the dieting industry earned over 56 million dollars. This figure includes revenue from diet centers, individual weight loss plans, etc. Have you ever felt like being overweight or unable to lose weight is just a part of who you are, perhaps due to a slow metabolism or your genes? While these thoughts might be true, they do not have to stop you from achieving a healthy weight. There may be an underlying issue to the problem — for example, an undiagnosed thyroid disorder, food sensitivities, undiagnosed diabetes, or other conditions. If you have been struggling with fatigue and an inability to lose weight despite your efforts and are frustrated with ineffective treatments, this could be a vital sign. Here are three ways to improve your lifestyle and shed weight. CREATE A PLAN Many starvation diets cause your body to destroy muscle tissue instead of burning fat. The goal of losing weight is to get healthy by reducing body fat, maintaining muscle, and developing a leaner physique. There are good plans out there, but each caters to specific needs. Finding a pattern you can stick to is essential, as consistency is key. HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE Imagine being measured every week and having to report your progress to someone. This accountability and looking at your progress daily help keep you on track. Having a friend join you on this journey can also help with motivation. START EXERCISING Make exercise enjoyable by incorporating activities you love, such as biking or jogging. Moving your body for a few minutes daily is better than staying sedentary. For additional motivation, consider joining a class, hiring a trainer, or dining in a club that offers group workouts. This can help push yourself further. The key is to enjoy what you are doing. Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight involves more than just dieting; it is about finding a balanced and sustainable approach that works best for you. 4. How Diet and Dental Hygiene Affect Digestive Health
A GUT FEELING Oral Bacteria’s Impact on Digestive Health
When deciding what to eat, most people consider factors like diet, flavor, and convenience. But an often-overlooked part of that decision is what the trillions of bacteria in our guts would benefit from most. Research shows that oral and gut health are influenced directly by the food we eat, as well as our dental hygiene! “Gut health and mouth health are related,” says author and dentist Dr. Michelle Jorgensen. “You can look at your teeth to gain a lot of knowledge and information about what is going on in your gut. If you have gum disease or a problem with bacteria in your mouth, it’s usually a sign that things are going on with your gut biome as well.”
studies have shown that oral bacteria can translocate to the gut, altering the local microbiota. A particularly nasty oral pathogen

whereas consuming too much alcohol, caffeine, or fatty red meats can have the opposite effect. Instead of a beer with dinner, how about an antioxidant green tea?
