A special investigation has determined that a man injured near Embrun while trying to escape police cannot put the blame on them. A new phone scam involving bitcoin, the electronic cryptocurrency, has surfaced in the Prescott-Russell region. The con artist tells the victim they need to withdraw a large amount of money from their account and put it into a bitcoin account to support a crime prevention program. The scammer uses a call display program to make it appear that the call is coming from local police or some other local phone number. Do not give out any personal information or identification. Hang up and contact the OPP. Police do not do phone solicitations for crime prevention funding. – Gregg Chamberlain SUMMER LEARNING The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBE0) again offers summer online learning programs for students. Parents of students in Kinder- garten to Grade 8 can enroll their child- ren in online home-learning programs to improve their reading and mathematics skills. The CDSBEO also has five new “reach ahead” programs for students who enter Grade 9 in the next term.
