PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Bosco Catholic Education Trust is a growing multi-academy trust serving the Catholic schools in Sussex. There are currently eight schools in the trust (2 secondary, 6 primary) and the trust expects to grow rapidly over the next few years. The purpose of the role is: • to support Premises Managers in each school in undertaking the necessary tasks to keep the built-estate compliant with health and safety and other relevant legislation, • to ensure that the compliance data in our Parago asset management system is correct, • to report to trustees on health and safety and other compliance matters. Depending on the successful candidate’s experience, over time there might be the opportunity for the postholder to conduct Bosco’s Health and Safety audits. This will be the first central estates post within the trust. Over time we would anticipate the central estates team will grow and so flexibility to a changing operating environment is a key requirement in the postholder as is the ability to establish their credibility with Business Managers and Premises Managers in each school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Statutory Compliance • Work with the Premises Managers to ensure that all maintenance activity complies with all relevant statutory and regulatory H&S requirements • Develop and review policies and guidance to support Bosco’s Health and Safety compliance • Develop risk assessments to support the ongoing management of risk across the Bosco Estate and review risk assessments as required • Support the management of Bosco’s statutory compliance through the management and maintenance of Bosco’s CAFM system (Parago). • Manage and co-ordinate the annual program of H&S Audits and Fire Risk Assessments with the schools and their appointed consultants • Support Head Teachers, Business Managers and Premises Managers to ensure the Bosco health & safety policy is implemented at all times, put into practice and is subject to review and assessment at regular intervals or as situations change • Develop processes to support schools to ensure that all statutory checks are conducted in line with required timeframes. • Develop systems to support efficient and accessible data ensuring all associated records are kept for all site safety and legislative purposes. To include (but not limited to) – asbestos, electrical, fire, HVAC, lifts, transportation, water and working at height
