Q. What is the best way to run dou ble sessions in Sunday school because of lack of facilities? A. Most churches that are using double Sunday school sessions also conduct double worship services. In other words, they offer Sunday school and worship service concur rently at the first hour and then an other Sunday school hour and iden tical worship service the second hour. This enables every Sunday school worker to have a worship ex perience, which I, personally, feel is very important. Although a double session of Sunday school has some drawbacks, I feel it is a very practi cal use of available facilities. We have been operating such an ar rangement for the past four years at our church. With the continued growth that the double session has made possible, we plan to continue this arrangement in the foreseeable years ahead. Q. In our young married class, we have a large number of wives attend ing — but not many husbands. How can we get more of the men to attend? A. The answer to this question lies in the manner in which the class and its activities are conducted. The les son and the related program should definitely be geared for men. Their interests should be kept in mind in the planning of the lesson content, the choice of illustrations, etc. The men who come should be used to make special assigned reports, lead buzz groups, carry on a debate, as well as to lead committees in their work. Socials generally attract more men and should be planned to appeal to them. At the social, the teacher should make a real effort to become acquainted with each man, to make him feel welcome, and to encourage his participation in all of the class’ activities.
