IN THE SPOTLIGHT: ERIKA MOBLEY
The bed that makes all the difference
Erika Mobley is a top manager in a tech multinational, with the result that her busy schedule involves travel, jet lag, meetings at all times of day and night and multiple responsibilities. She first encountered an Elite bed in a luxury hotel and ever since, she’s insisted on having one of her own. We asked her how she came to that decision.
E rika, you go from one flight to the next and How important is your bed to you? It’s true that I lead a busy life juggling work, children and many different activities. When I’m travelling, I often don’t have much time to get over jet from meeting to meeting. lag. A good night’s sleep is key for my energy levels, alertness and good humour. My bed is a reward that I eagerly look forward to when my day is done; a comforting place where I can recover! Together with a good diet, a good bed is probably the most important contributing factor to my physical and mental wellbeing. Is it true that you discovered Elite during a stay at a luxury hotel in Lausanne ? Indeed it is! I had the privilege of visiting Lausanne and staying at the Beau Rivage Palace hotel, where I enjoyed a wonderful night’s sleep. I’ve stayed in plenty of grand hotels worldwide, but when I woke up I said to my family “That was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years!” As I
was preparing to check out, I couldn’t resist lifting up the sheets to find out who the bed manufacturers were. That’s when I saw the Elite logo. Back home, you chose a WoodenBoxspring. Why did you go for that model ? Once I’d solved the mystery of who’d manufactured the bed, my next step was to visit Elite’s website. I looked through the details of the different beds and discovered a whole new world. A bed base with wooden springs was entirely new to me. It’s the perfect illustration of how a good idea – in this case, steel springs – can become a brilliant idea that’s sustainable, environmentally friendly and incredibly comfortable. Indeed, wooden springs deliver unparalleled suspension and thus anatomic comfort in its purest form. Elite has a strong interest in the US market: as a US citizen, what do you see as the brand’s strong points in that respect ? Elite embodies pure knowhow and high-quality products that use the
best, ethical materials sourced from all over the world. The firm pays remarkable attention to the details of each product from start to finish, right through to white-glove delivery at home. I’m sure these values will resonate with customers in the US. Americans’ choices may be dictated by cost considerations first and foremost, but they are increasingly concerned about their health and aware of luxury brands that embody environmental sustainability. The values and ethos of Elite, a typically Swiss brand, are recognised far beyond the borders of its native country.
