GUIDED NATURE HIKES Guided Nature Hikes with the DFNC are family-friendly and adults-only evening hikes that take place at different nature hot-spots around Pearland. Each hike is tailored to search for different varieties of local nocturnal wildlife on Wild Night Hikes, Owl Prowls and Bat Walks! You’ll have an opportunity to learn from our knowledgeable staff about the natural environment and wildlife found at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center, the John Hargrove Environmental Complex and the Nature Trail at Shadow Creek Ranch. Small groups of participants, outfitted with a Nature Explorer Pack, will walk the trails with our staff at the lead. Staff will point out interesting features, important habitats and visiting wildlife during the hike. Friday, June 24, 8 – 9:30 p.m. (all ages) Friday, July 22, 8 - 9:30 p.m. (18+) Friday, August 18, 8 - 9:30 p.m. (all ages) $10 all ages/18+ SCR Nature Trail PADDLE PEARLAND – KAYAKING TOUR Paddle Pearland is the perfect way to learn about Pearland’s native environment by kayak! Participants will go through a quick kayak-101 tomake sure that everyone is comfortable with the basics before hitting the water. During the program, participants will get a close look at one of our bird rookeries, learn about the vital aquatic habitats throughout the Pearland area and enjoy a relaxing paddle on the pond. Kayaks, paddles and PFDs (personal flotation devices) will be provided. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 18.
Opening Summer 2022 – CAMP PELICAN – The Pearland Environmental Learning Institute for Conservation, Adventure and Nature! These specialty, nature-themed camps are designed to bring children closer to nature and foster a further love and understanding of the natural world. Each day of these week-long camps will be filled with exploration and educational lessons about Texas wildlife, habitats and more!

DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMS Want to bring nature to your virtual classroom? The DFNC has you covered! These virtual field trip programs offer a variety of engaging topics like Home Sweet Home, Just Right for Night and Scoop on Poop. Each program is TEKS-aligned for students in elementary grades but can be adapted for older or younger audiences. Each virtual lesson also includes instructions for pre- and post-virtual lesson activities and is sure to offer your class the best virtual experience of the semester. Select Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 10 a.m. –2 p.m. $100+ All ages DFNC OUTREACH PROGRAMS Bring the adventure of nature right to your facility! Our Outreach Programs are designed for a variety of age levels and can accommodate large groups or single classrooms. Each program lasts 30-45 minutes and includes several live animal encounters. Reservations are required at a minimum of two weeks in advance. Program pricing starts at $100 but varies by location distance and number of participants.
