youth and adult matches, training and entertainment, capped off the incredible two-day grand opening of Phase II of the Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch. As Pearland continues to grow, the diversity of the community presents an expanding need for diverse programming. The demand for rugby and Miracle Fields has increased, in part because the City of Houston acquired a national rugby franchise. Pearland also is embracing diverse programming to meet quality of life expectations to accommodate populations with disabilities and their proximity to the expanding Texas Medical Center. “We are very excited about the new additions to the Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch,” said Brandon Torres, athletic/ aquatic manager. “Pearland Parks & Recreation has always been committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. These new facilities strengthen our commitment. The Phase II additions allow the Parks & Recreation Department to expand programming efforts to better serve a wider range of demographics including underserved populations. This further enhances the City’s position as a regional destination for athletic programs and events.” West Pearland Library A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the West Pearland Library took place on Saturday, April 9. Designed as a library and community center to accommodate growth on the west end of Pearland, the new state-of-the-art facility is located on Shadow Creek Parkway. The new library replaces the Westside Library which was housed in a retail strip center on Business Center Drive. The new library provides a permanent facility for patrons,

The Brazoria County Library System, which had been managing both the Westside Library and the Tom Reid Library in Pearland, transitioned to the West Pearland Library a fewmonths before the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This new space means the world to us,” said Jessica Williams, who had been the branch librarian for the Pearland Westside Library.
