An interdisciplinary programme on Latin American and Caribbean studies is also under development. Following QAR Asian Languages the section is developing a Programme in Asian Studies.
Rationalization: Teaching mode and merges (UG)
• Introduced fully online versions of the Beginners’ French and Spanish courses. • Raised the cap on Beginners’ French and Spanish streams: French f2f labs and seminars from 25 to 30. Spanish f2f seminars from 25 to 30. • Introduction of asynchronous online activities which are to replace at least 1 hour in the f2f courses. Course Substitution/Suspension (UG) • SPAN2302: Level II Literature course taught during the First semester will be suspended starting from Academic Year 2023–2024. Instead, the second semester course will be moved to the first semester for AY2023–2024. Revision of Literature courses will take place during the 2023–2024 AY. • SPAN2501: Level II Spanish to English Translation. Becomes compulsory for Major/Minor. It will continue to be offered during the second semester (Semester II). • CHANGE SPAN2705 Level II Literature course, Contemporary Caribbean Literature , will be offered during the First Semester replacing SPAN2302. This change has been notified and updated in handbooks. • CHANGE SPAN3702 Level III Literature course, Latin American Women Writers . This course is offered during First Semester of the Third year in alter- nate years. It will be alternate with Translation course SPAN3501. • CHANGE SPAN3501 Spanish to English Translation , Level 3 course. This course is offered during the first semester/third year in alternate years. It is alternate with SPAN3702. SPAN3501 is taught in AY2023–2024. • CHANGE FREN2807. Level II Francophone Women Writers . The course is going to be suspended due to low registrations and substituted by FREN2215 French For Diplomacy , under QAR demand of Foreign Languages for Pur- poses. The course is compulsory for Major French Students as well as students pursuing the French and International Relations Programme. The course is also the option for Students in French Minor. • CHANGE FREN3118 Level III, French for International Conferences has been suspended.
