(i) Undergraduate Awards (47 Honours Society Inductees – Level I; 12 Honours Society Inductees – Level II; 119 First Class Honours; 1 Undergraduate Diploma Distinction; and 33 Special Awards) and (ii) Graduate Awards (68 Graduate Distinctions and 66 Special Awards). Dean’s List (Semester II) The exceptional academic performance of 338 undergraduate students resulted in them earning a place on the Dean’s List for Semester II. This included 47 students from the Mona Western Jamaica Campus and 5 students from the Weekend Programmes. Marketing initiatives to attract increased numbers of students to the University Significant efforts were made to market the Faculty in an attempt to achieve enroll- ment levels at least on par with those in the AY 2019–2020, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. These efforts included: The launch of a Recruitment Page on the Faculty’s Website The Recruitment webpage (https://www.mona.uwi.edu/socsci/recruitment) is a central hub of information for prospective students, making it easier for them to navigate the application process. The webpage highlights the popular programmes available in the Social Sciences and suggests a choice of programmes based on students’ interests and personality. This helps students explore their options and make informed decisions about their educational paths. The Hosting of FSS Talks Session with Prospective Students The Faculty hosted an FSS Talks session for over 130 High School students on March 30, 2023, the primary objective of which was to introduce them to the diverse disciplines in the Faculty. Telephoning Applicants Who Had Received an Offer but Had Not Yet Accepted The Faculty telephoned applicants who received programme offers, but had not accepted in order to understand the reasons for not accepting and encourage their acceptance of the offer. This reaped limited success.
