Social Care Services, Digital Pedagogies for Sustainable Development Conference, and ChatGPT and Academic Integrity in Online Graduate Programmes Workshop. Dr Rogers continues her work around decolonising mental health, trauma-informed practice, and promoting self-care for Black Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) practitioners working in the global North. She was featured as a guest presenter of the Academy of Therapy Wisdom which offers training at the intersection of mental health and social change. Dr. Rogers has offered workshops and lectures for mental health practitioners and graduate students on the impact of coloniality on mental health service provision. Miss Shawna-Kae Burns, facilitated a workshop on the ‘Reduction of Gender-Based Violence’ for Women’s Media Watch under the Spotlight Initiative Programme, worked with the staff of the SOS Children’s Village on self-care, and presented at the Growth and Empowerment Workshop with Staff of VTDI on the topic ‘Culti- vating a Growth Mindset’. Dr. Joanna Simpson impressed in her first year, creating local and international linkages and flying the flag of the Department. Her year’s work included: a vir- tual podcast entitled ‘Safer Tomorrow’ – a resource for creating more peaceful societies by making solutions accessible to the public and encouraging positive action; presentation to 71 students at the University of KwaZulu Natal’s ‘Engaging Communities in Action’ (March 31, 2023); public commentary on Horace Chang’s sectoral debate presentation on Nationwide 90FM (April 26, 2023); feedback on the presentation of the new National Corrections Service Policy at the Ministry of National Security in preparation for the Division’s presentation of the Policy to Cabinet (July 13, 2023); and technical review of two community-based projects at Joy Town Community Development Foundation (July 19, 2023). THE HRD UNIT The HRD unit hosted an all-day workshop in HR Analytics. Members of staff, current students and alumni attended both theoretical discussions and practical demonstrations. The Unit also hosted two free seminars on survey design and qualitative research in May, 2023. These workshops were designed mainly to benefit students who are doing their Practicum consultancy placements this summer, but they also invited members of their alumni who had expressed interest in embarking upon research careers.
