• In January 2023, Dr. Tracie Rogers was appointed as a Research Associate in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. This 3-year appointment will facilitate joint research with scholars in the School of Social Work and Community Development. • Dr Moji Anderson, along with Marjan de Bruin, formerly of CARIMAC, organized a transdisciplinary, inter-faculty (Law, FSS and FMS) team to join The Network: Towards Unity For Health (TUFH), an institution that creates international linkages with universities and other agencies and individuals to promote equitable global health (https://tufh.org). Dr. Anderson reported that TUFH offered UWI Mona a year’s free membership for staff and students to take advantage of a range of opportunities, including networking, collaborative work, attending or creating (virtual) seminars and workshops, and attending and participating in conferences. • Dr. Michael Barnett has been instrumental in establishing an MOU with the University of Ghana, and has organized and promoted several seminars under the auspices of the Department. His involvement and promotion of events related to Rastafari culture and related presentations. He also facilitated an MOU with the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Centre of International Rela- tions, Ghana. This will involve a staff exchange between the two universities from Semester-1, AY2023–2024. • Dr Gayle met with Colgate University regarding further collaboration and exchange with students and staff. • Dr Tracy McFarlane was the local lead researcher in a global study to assess work addiction and its impact on health, involving experts from various fields to shed light on the complex issue of work addiction and its consequences for well-being. The study is being conducted in over 60 countries from 6 continents, and is supported by the National Science Centre in Poland. • Dr Sharon McKenzie collaborated with Association for Play Therapy Jamaica Chapter – and implemented activities for Grades 4 to 5 students at Ardenne Preparatory and Extension High School, 37 Hope Road, Kingston. She also collaborated with Source Farm and Yamaye Guani Taino organization –“Read and Reasoning: A free book and breakfast event for Preparatory Students.” Location: Ancestral Gardens Woodside, High gate, St. Mary. CHANGE OF COORDINATOR Dr Sharon Priestley replaced Dr. Herbert Gayle (Head) as the coordinator for the Sociology Unit.
