FEBRUARY 2023 − Chinese Director, Dr. Feng, assisted the Ministry of Education with translations for PEP Exams in Port Antonio, Portland. − The American International School of Kingston hosted the Chinese New Year celebrations. The CI contributed towards the programme. − The Jamaica Chinese Association and the CI started discussions regarding Mandarin classes for children at the CI. MARCH 2023 − Weekend classes for children, aged 8–16 years, of the Jamaica Chinese Associ- ation, commenced at the Confucius Institute. In total there are 70 students in 3 groups. There will be a total of 10 weekends, with 4 hours per session. − On March 23, the CI participated in Modern Languages Day with a display and in the preparation of Chinese food. − Discussions resumed regarding the Educator’s Delegation to China. APRIL 2023 − The CI grounds started establishing boundary hedging with the planting of Bougainvillea and Frangipani. − A delegation from Jinan University visited the Confucius Institute and met with Dr. Feng and Ms. Sappleton. − A delegation comprised of members from the Shandong Provincial Government visited the Confucius Institute. It was from this province that workers were sent to work on construction of the Confucius Institute building some years ago. − Again, Dr. Feng was called on for assistance with the PEP Exams in Port Antonio. MAY 2023 − Mandarin classes for the Jamaica Customs started in early May. There are 15 students who will study for a duration of eight weeks.
