• UNESCO Caribbean Sheroes Initiative (CSI) Phase II Transforming MENtalities Initiative: This phase of the project was conducted from June to November 2022, with the Caribbean Sheroes Academy: Transforming MENtalities Edition. The Sheroes Academy included virtual sessions, held on November 15–17, 2022 with thirty (30) Caribbean youth advocates. Training sessions were based on the launched UNESCO Training Manual on Gender Equality, Advocacy and Development (especially Module 6 on Caribbean Masculinities), and the CSO Toolkit on Gender Equality, which were also deliverables for this phase of the project. Presenters included: IGDS-RCO staff members: Dr. Natasha Mortley, Dr. Dalea Bean, Professor Paula Morgan, Professor Diana Fox, and Dr. Steffon Campbell (IGDS, Mona Unit), Paula Isturizo (UNESCO) and Stevan ‘Coach’ Lynn (Founder and CEO of Deeds Driven Dads Inc, Fatherhood Coalition and The Future Fathers Club). Due to the success of the Sheroes Academy, UNESCO extended the project to allow for a one-day training workshop with the Caribbean Youth Advocates, which was held on December 19, 2022. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Bean, who presented on ‘Gender Equality, Advo- cacy and Development: Transforming Masculinities Edition’. Participants of the Sheroes Academy also gave testimonials on “Being a Youth Activist” and shared their experiences of participating in the Academy. Dr Natasha Mortley was the project lead. • USAID Positive Pathways Activity in Jamaica Project in partnership with the Peace and Love in Society (PALS) was conducted during March–July 2022. The project was aimed at implementing a community transformation-through-train- ing (C-TTT) initiative in three Kingston communities (Jones Town–June 25 & July 16 -, and Denham Town–July 2, 2022, and Hannah Town–July 30, 2022). The training focused on domestic, community, and gender-based violence (GBV), affecting women, girls and young males. The project was led by Dr Imani Tafari-Ama. • New Consultancy/Project: Expanding Capacity: Collaborative Participatory Action Research in the Caribbean Region through a Decolonial Gender Approach to Achieve Self-Determination: This consultancy is a CDB Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Initiative Engagement and Research with objectives: to advise on a pro- gramme of activities and interventions to strengthen the CDB’s engagement with IPs as well as lead the production and presentation of research on IPs in the region, towards helping to inform the Bank’s programme of work. Project activities will be undertaken in two phases: Phase 1 involved a rapid data col- lection to assess the IPs needs, preparation of ‘Ethical Guidelines’ to establish principles of engagement with IPs, and participation in the Bank’s annual conference held in June 2023. Phase 2 will include an in-depth field research in IP communities in six (6) Caribbean islands. This regional project will be coordinated by the RCO and implemented in collaboration with the IGDS St Augustine and Nita Barrow (Cave Hill) Units.
