Orientation Exercise 2022 As part of our commitment to serve our users effectively, the Library participated in the UWI Mona Orientation 2022 exercise from August 23–September 2 under the theme: A is for Everyone: A Call to Action . The Library conducted presentations aimed to orientate new students (UG & PG), and faculty to significant programmes, services, and resources of the Library. The Library’s booth offered an interactive experience where the collections and services were promoted to help students with smooth transition to studying and research at the tertiary level. In addition to online sessions, scheduled drop-in tours of the physical facilities were encouraged and approximately 360 new students visited the Library during the orientation period. The Branch Libraries also conducted orientation sessions, resulting in participation from over 500 new and returning students. During the orientation for new academic staff on August 23, 2022, a presentation was made under the theme ‘Embracing the Library as a resource tool for the fostering of academic excellence’. Orientation activities were made possible through contributions from The UWI, Lasco, Digicel, and Jamaica Producers. Library Tours A total of four hundred and forty (440) users participated in 12 tours throughout the academic year. In addition to The UWI students’ orientation tours, the Library accommodated students from high schools across Jamaica who visited the Library for research assistance with SBA projects. The Library was pleased to host librarians from across the region who attended the ACURIL Conference in June 2023, as well as academics from international universities for tours.
