Ms. Simone Harrison and Dr. Alicia Palmer, effective July 31, 2023 Staff Secondment Miss Natalie Williamson was seconded as Senior Administrative Assistant I to the Institute of Gender and Development Studies for the period January 23–April 30, 2023. Temporary Staff Upgrades Over the period, 13 members of staff in the ATS category were temporarily assigned to higher posts. Training Throughout the year the Mona Library continued its thrust of staff empowerment resulting in staff in all categories being trained in a number of areas including; Teaching UWIlinC, Thesis Scrutiny, Referencing, Plagiarism and Predatory Journals, and Literature Writing Styles hosted by the Library, through the Mona Information and Literacy Unit. In addition, staff participated in the following training sessions: • An EBSCO Webinar for Professional staff on “Leading in an Exponential- ly-Changing World” was held on September 13, 2022. • The HRMD (Speaker: Janice Brown-Roberts) hosted “Transforming the Service Culture” on November 7, 2022 for all staff. • The Management Audit Department trained selected Library staff on “Internal Controls and Fraud Detection” on December 6, 2022. The audience included Heads of Sections/Branches, Accounting and RESU staff, and paraprofessionals responsible for receiving/documenting collections. • The IEE Xplore, in collaboration with the Science and Engineering Branch Library hosted a Webinar on “Search/Research Strategies” on March 21, 2023 for professional and paraprofessional staff. • May 24–June 20, 2023, Ms. Tereza Richards participated in the 2023 Mortenson Center Associates Program “Shaping the Future of Libraries: A Professional Development Program for Library Leaders and Innovators” at The Mortenson Center, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. • July 24–28, 2023, Miss Sandra Stubbs participated in the Leadership for Aca- demic Librarians’ at the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians, Harvard Graduate School of Education.
