In 2021 The Lakes launched the VIA Program (Veritas;Truth, Innovate, Accelerate) with the first cohort of Year 7’ s to enter the program. Over the last 3 Years the program has expanded to run from Years 7 to 10, with 72 students across these year levels. In 2023 we began the VIA Early Entry Program, where students in Years 5 and 6 are offered places in the program prior to the start of Year 7 based on academic performance in Semester 1 of the relevant year. Additionally five Year 6 students were awarded VIA Scholarships after AGAT Testing identified them as the strongest students across a range of disciplines including critical thinking, creativity and problem solving. These students had the choice of a Laptop computer with all accessories or full fee coverage for Curriculum charges from Years 7 to 9.
The aim of the VIA Program is to motivate and extend students by:
1.
Providing access to a progressive, challenging and tailored curriculum
2.
Addressing the individual academic needs of high achieving students in a range of areas
3.
Incorporating a range of project based, self - directed learning programs to encourage the development of 21st century learning skills and competencies Promoting and modelling the value of both independent and collaborative approaches to learning
