Medinah Country Club’s No 3 Course, site of the 2026 Presidents Cup, three US Opens and two PGA Championships, has been remodelled by the Australian design firm OCM (Geoff Ogilvy, Mike Cocking and Ashley Mead). They revamped the course in the spirit of its prairie-style 1920s roots by clearing trees, planting fescue and reintroducing the original mode of rugged bunkering. Major sections of the course have been rerouted with new holes, including the short, cape-style par-4 16th with a bite-off-what-you-dare tee shot across water and the revamped par-3 17th (pictured). It will look nothing like you remember from the 2012 Ryder Cup.

initiated by Amy Alcott in 1988 when it was the Nabisco Dinah Shore, was for the winner and her caddie to jump into Poppie’s Pond at Mission Hills, Ran- cho Mirage, California. When it moved under new sponsors in 2022 to Carlton Woods in Texas, there was a lake on 18 into which the winner could leap, but a pier had to be built for the occasion. Memorial Park though has no water on 18. Unless a portable swimming pool is acquired, that tradition is over.

Aronimink in Philadelphia was where Gary Player won the 1962 PGA Championship.
