THE QUADRANGLE From the President

The recent nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of Covid-19 makes the AGM and past year seem but a distant memory. Operating from home offices, garages, and dining tables is now the norm for those other than essential services in utilities and on the medical frontline. To all Old Boys and families involved our thanks, and good luck to everyone else as we do our bit by doing what we can and preparing for recovery.

been located alongside these staff, and adjacent to Careers Advisor Chris Sellars, in the renovated Tower Block for the last two years. CCOBA Secretary Justine Nicholl spearheaded the excellent collaboration, sharing alumni news, database administration, and event management between the CCOBA and the school. In addition, our two appointed board members and the Executive Principal attend CCOBA committee meetings. In 2019, admissions, development, and marketing and communications combined under the umbrella of Advancement – promoting and advancing the interests of the school – and paralleling that trajectory from the boys’ pre- enrolment, through their time at school, and on to becoming Old Boys. Naturally, the CCOBA is an important part of that process and, following the appointment of our new Alumni Manager Lizzie Dyer in December, is now fully integrated within the Advancement team. Many Old Boys are already aware of these challenges in their businesses, whether in surgery, farming, commercial, science or engineering. Some are proactive and others will be guided by legislation. The Board and Executive are adapting our 170 year old campus and traditions to the needs of current students – the Old Boys of the future. With a solid plan, the events of the pandemic shock will be dealt with, but no doubt they will need our help and support in every form over the next decade. The CCOBA’s role in this strategic alliance As an Association we have become increasingly connected with the school’s marketing, admissions and development team – literally because the CCOBA office has

The past year has seen further collaboration between College and the CCOBA as our administration moves with the times and becomes one team, running in parallel with a student’s passage through life before school, through school, and on to life as an Old Boy. CCOBA Strategy – “connecting for life” and aligning with College In April we held the biennial CCOBA strategy meeting and over 15–16 September College hosted a strategic planning session with 24 participants, from the Executive team, teaching and administration staff, current parents, Old Boys and Fellows. Some people fitted more than one of those categories. We reflected on the myriad changes completed within the Strategy 2020 plan set out five
