ANNUAL APPEAL 2020 Your support makes a real difference

school for our boys and community to enjoy, plus purchasing archive display cabinets to show some of the large collection we have in storage. And, because 2020 is the 20th anniversary of the Old Boys’ Theatre, we also want to contribute to an upgrade of the OBT. Our plans may change as a result of our response to Covid-19, but we will launch our 2020 Annual Appeal as soon as we can and will be in touch with further details in due course. The Annual Appeal is our regular fundraising appeal, where our generous Christ’s College community comes together to offer support. Usually the appeal gives to projects that are not included in annual budget allocations. Often these are special projects, such as raising money for the Chapel windows, contributing to the upgrade of the gallery in the Dining Hall, or restoring finials on the Dining Hall, replacing the earthquake damaged decorative features on the roof overlooking the quad. The Annual Appeal also supports special teacher-identified initiatives. These have included the purchase of a gorilla skeleton for the Biology department;

a Sony PXW-FS5 cinematic camcorder for students to use on film production work; a 4m x 3m multi-purpose digital display screen for use in many areas of the school programme; a sports body-alignment machine, used by coaches to promote safety in sport and encourage strength and conditioning programmes; as well as funding for the Co-motion dance programme, physical theatre for boys to build self-confidence in a co-educational environment; and participation in a Centre for Space Science Technology project, supporting boys working with the University of Canterbury to build kitset rockets for research and study. This year we plan to focus on arts and culture – specifically, restoring works of art from our College collection to hang around the
