Word of Life 2024

After classes on Friday afternoon, students packed into buses and vans as they headed out to serve at a classic Word of Life ministry. Beginning with a professional hockey game, Reverb is comprised of a few key components such as the presentation of the gospel with an invitation to accept Christ, team games among the crowd, tons of prizes, pizza and soda, and all sorts of all-night activities. It is with the gospel message that the event really gets started. Teens in attendance are encouraged to walk out where they will be met by a student, staff member, or their own youth leader who is prepared to talk with them about the decision they have just made. This is a great opportunity for students to encourage and pray with the teens as they step into their new relationship with Christ.

Following the gospel session, students assisted in running the intense Reverb rally in which the crowd is split into the notorious Word of Life Red and Blue teams and put against each other in high-energy games on the ice. After the rally, however, a Reverb event is only halfway through. Students spread out across various locations hosting all sorts of activities for the teens to enjoy. Reverb is an action-packed, fun-filled night with many hours spent awake, but that excitement is simply a tool used to reach the point of the event – sharing the gospel with teens. The time spent at the activity centers was a great chance for students to be intentional with investing in the youth as they could discuss the night they had so far and continue sharing the love and message of Christ with them. Sharing the gospel doesn’t stop after the message or exit-counseling, but the whole night is an opportunity for teens to be brought into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
