Day 1 Arrival We travel from our overnight short sea crossing past Montreux along the spectacular shores of Lake Geneva
We enjoy free time to see the centuries-old buildings, picturesque alleyways and the impressive harbour entrance guarded by a Bavarian lion and historic white lighthouse. We have time for lunch at one of the quaint cafes before returning to our hotel. (If a driver day off is required, then this could be a free day in Dornbirn with passengers able to use the train to visit Bregenz or Lindau on the shore of the lake). Day 5 Appenzell & St Gallen This morning, we travel to the mountain town of Appenzell for a short amount of free time in the village centre before enjoying an Appenzeller Cheese Dairy guided tour and tasting to discover the traditional way of making this delicious cheese. Afterwards, we travel to St Gallen to arrive late morning for a little free time in the town centre before learning more about the centuries- old history and beautiful architecture with a fascinating guided tour of the baroque-styled Abbey St Gall and Library. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home. Set in the picturesque mountain village of Saas Almagell, this family-run & spacious hotel offers stylish accommodation with spectacular views of the Swiss Alps. and through the Valais to our hotel. Day 2 Zermatt and the Matterhorn
After breakfast, we travel by coach to Taesch where we take a shuttle train to Zermatt for a day at leisure. Set beneath the mighty Matterhorn, this prestigious resort is composed of traditional timber chalets and has lots to see and do. We may wish to explore the Matterhorn Museum, catch the Gornergrat Mountain Railway up to the Gornergrat Ridge for spectacular views, or simply enjoy Zermatt’s classy restaurants, cafés, boutiques and chocolate shops. After taking the return shuttle train to Taesch we return to our hotel by coach. (Please note, today we depart early and return late). Day 3 Glacier Express After breakfast, we depart our hotel and travel through the valley to Brig to board the Glacier Express for our 5.5-hour journey on the slowest express train in the world! We travel through snow-capped mountains and enjoy stunning views of glaciers, sparkling streams and waterfalls as we make our way towards Chur where our coach (and luggage!) will meet us this afternoon to transfer us to our hotel in Dornbirn, Austria. Please note that the group will have free time after arrival before being picked up by their coach. Day 4 Lindau & Lake Constance After a leisurely breakfast, we depart mid-morning to travel to the historic island of Lindau in Germany famous for its picturesque position on Lake Constance with spectacular snow-covered mountain backdrop.
