Starting in D Ü sseldorf, the home of Altbier – a traditional German ale, and continuing to the confluence of the rivers Rhine & Moselle in the city of Koblenz. Discover the incredible history of this wine- growing region through its trading town of Traben-Trabach, timbered houses of Bernkastel and the picturesque town of Cochem famed for Reichsburg Castle.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 Embark in Düsseldorf – Koblenz We embark our ship in Düsseldorf and settle into our cabins, before the ship departs for Koblenz at 17h00. Day 2 Koblenz - Traben-Trarbach We have the morning in Koblenz to explore one of Germany’s oldest cities with many historical attractions such as the the Deutsches Eck, Electorial Palace and Stolzenfels Castle. We then re-embark at lunchtime and On arrival, we will spend the morning in the Art Nouveau town of Traben-Trarbach, one of the most important wine trading towns in Europe in the early 1900s. As a result, over 100 wine companies with cellars, some several stories high are to be found in the city. We then embark the ship before lunch time and set sail to Bernkastel, where we arrive by 14.30. We have the rest of the day here to explore the charming Old Town before the ship will set sail at around 23.00 for Trier. Optional excursions are available. Day 4 Trier Our ship arrives in Trier in the morning, Germany’s oldest city dating back to Roman times with monuments such as the Porta Nigra, amphitheatre and imperial baths. In the early afternoon, the ship departs and sails overnight to Cochem. sail overnight to Traben-Trarbach. Optional excursions are available. Day 3 Traben-Trarbach – Bernkastel Our ship arrives in Cochem in the morning where we have free time. Explore the town with its fairytale Reichsburg Castle overlooking the river and romantic old town. Afterwards, the ship will make its way to the quieter town of Treis-Karden with historic churches & vineyards arriving at 14.30, before sailingl to Rüdesheim. Optional excursions are available. of the Rhine Valley. Discover the famous Drosselgasse, a narrow lane lined with wine taverns where wine making traditions date back 1,000 years. We then sail to Königswinter passing the Loreley passage en-route. We arrive at Königswinter in the evening & dock overnight. We have the morning at leisure in the picturesque wine village of Königswinter. Home to Germany’s first nature reserve, the Siebengebirge, visitors can also take the oldest cog railroad up the hill to the Romanesque Drachenfels Castle ruins and enjoy a magnificent view of the Rhine Valley. At lunch time the ship departs Königswinter for Düsseldorf, where we arrive at 18.00 and dock overnight. Optional excursions are available. Day 7 Königswinter – Düsseldorf Optional excursions are available. Day 8 Disembark in Düsseldorf After breakfast, we begin our journey home.
