Today we travel to the charming port town of Honfleur, located on the beautiful Côte Fleurie. Honfleur’s beauty has long attracted artists whose work can be seen in the town’s museums and art galleries. During our visit we can explore the old harbour in the heart of the port, surrounded by distinctive high, narrow, timber-framed and slate-clad houses. Honfleur is also famous for its seafood, so our day at leisure is the perfect opportunity to sample some freshly caught fish at one of the many restaurants. Day 3 Fromagerie Graindorge, Falaise & Calvados Distillery This morning, we visit the Fromagerie Graindorge for an audio tour of the cheese factory, discovering the unique way Livarot and Pont-l’Evêque cheeses are produced. The tour is followed by a tasting of four delicious cheeses . A fascinating area, we will have time in the town of Falaise to discover its rich architectural heritage, and home of William the Conquerer. This afternoon, we travel to Château du Breuil Calvados distillery for a guided tour . We discover the slow process of transforming apples into This morning, we visit the 18th century Château de Vendeuvre , one of the most beautiful castles in Normandy. Following our guided tour of the château & gardens , we enjoy a traditional 4 course Normandy lunch with a glass of wine . In the afternoon, we return to Lisieux where we can explore this beautiful town at our leisure. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home. Calvados and enjoy tasting the calvados . Today, we spend a day exploring the British and Canadian sectors of the Normandy Beaches. With our own knowledgeable guide , we will visit the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema , an immersive experience with surround cinema screen to bring the military action to life. Later we travel to Ouistreham and visit the museum at the restored Grand Bunker , part of the Atlantic Wall, the most powerful German coastal battery. Day 3 Caen & Caen Memorial Museum This morning, we travel into Caen with free time to explore its castle built for William the Conquerer which also houses the Fine Arts Museum and Normandy Museum. This afternoon, we visit the Caen Memorial Museum which tells the story of 20th century history in Europe by an innovative 360-degree film. Day 4 American Sector Today, with our knowledgeable guide , we visit the Airborne Museum which is dedicated to the American paratroopers engaged in the Normandy invasion. Later we visit German trenches & explore the WWII bunkers of Maisy Battery, Normandy’s best kept secret after being buried for 60 years! Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
