September 2017 Newsletter

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE As our summer season winds down and we enter the fall, we should stop to again appreciate our staff atWilmington Country Club. While our bricks and mortar are wonderful, it is our staff who make for our outstanding member experience. With this in mind,we will all receive, later in September, a request to support the Club’s Centennial Scholarship Fund. This fund was started as part of our Club’s Centennial Celebration in 2001 with the first awards being made in 2002. Under the direction of the Centennial Scholarship Committee, chaired by Jamie Murray, this fund has grown to over $528,000. Each year, applications are received from Club employees and their family members requesting support for their educational costs. At the Committee’s meeting in June 2017, the applications from 26 employees/dependents were reviewed and all were considered worthy of an award. In total, $48,000 was awarded to those 26 individuals. Eighteen of the applicants achieved GPAs greater than 3.0. Of the 26, 10 applicants received awards in previous years. The Centennial Scholarship Fund in an excellent way for us to show our appreciation to our outstanding staff. If you have given in the past, please continue your support. If you have not yet given, please consider a donation later this month. As always, thanks for reading. Joseph F. Hacker III President
