The Beekeeper June

NEW ZEALAND BEEKEEPER, JUNE 2017

VERY BIG THANKS TO: Our world-class speakers: Some who travelled from the North Island, and others quite a distance on the day, to present.

Hub & field day chair: Barry Hantz.

Treasurer: Charlotte Mundy.

Martin Laas: Midlands Apiaries, Ashburton. Supplied the data projector, laptop, and remote, set up all this on the day. Midlands loaning the data projector saved us a considerable sum on hire. New Zealand Beeswax, Orari: Peter & Susan Lyttle liaised with the golf club, set up and deconstructed the room, hired the screen, and were both in the background helping during the day. Carolyn McMahon, Hantz Honey: Provided backup for Maggie and Charlotte on the day. Those attending were local, and some travelled from Christchurch, Southland, Central Otago and the West Coast; being a mix of commercial and hobbyist beekeepers. Also attending were ApiNZ CE Karin Kos, and board members John Hartnell, Sean Goodwin, Dennis Crowley and Russell Marsh. Nancy Fithian: Editor, The New Zealand Beekeeper, and Sarah Oliver, graphic designer, Certa Solutions. A massive help with the field day notice, getting it set up graphically, advice with wording and meeting deadlines. We could constantly recycle and revamp this notice for our member and various media releases. Natasha Thyne & Pauline Downie: ApiNZ office. For various info that was not at our fingertips. We would recommend Denfield, Geraldine District Golf Club as a suitable venue. The Club provided excellent catering, staff were friendly, and the room had a view over the green. Geraldine businesses were very supportive. It is over 15 years since there has been a Canterbury field day and we could not have done it without a little bit of help from our friends. Thank you all for making this an outstanding day.

Fiona O’Brien.
